Job Description
This role focuses on ensuring the reliable operation of production machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair in a fast-paced manufacturing environment on 2nd shift.
Responsibilities
Ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
Follow diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications to perform maintenance and troubleshoot malfunctions.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on industrial equipment, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
Remove defective parts by safely dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools, while examining the form and texture of parts to determine wear or damage.
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges to restore proper operation and alignment.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment according to established schedules and document all work performed and issues found on supplied work orders.
Prepare clear and accurate mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends related to equipment performance and failures.
Work on gearboxes, pumps, and three-phase motors, including inspection, repair, replacement, and alignment as needed.
Troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure consistent and reliable operation of production equipment.
Assist with basic PLC troubleshooting, including identifying faults, responding to alarms, and supporting corrective actions under established procedures.
Support maintenance of VFDs, relays, and other electrical components associated with industrial equipment as required.
Use proper lockout/tagout procedures to ensure a safe working environment during maintenance and repair activities.
Collaborate with other maintenance technicians, production personnel, and supervisors to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper use and storage of tools, parts, and equipment.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment performance, reliability, and safety.
Essential Skills
At least 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
Proven ability to perform basic mechanical troubleshooting on production machinery and mechanical equipment.
Hands-on experience working on gearboxes, pumps, and three-phase motors.
Demonstrated skill in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems, including identifying and replacing defective parts.
Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial equipment and documenting findings and repairs on work orders.
Knowledge and practical use of lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safe maintenance operations.
Ability to work with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial setting.
Familiarity with maintenance mechanic or maintenance technician duties in a production environment.
Ability to use hoists, cranes, and a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Basic understanding of VFDs (variable frequency drives), relays, and three-phase electrical systems.
Ability to read and follow diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications.
Capability to prepare clear and concise mechanical maintenance reports and documentation.
Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift hours (approximately 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.) as required by the schedule.
Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to respond quickly to equipment issues and minimize downtime.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience as an industrial electrician or exposure to industrial electrical systems.
Basic PLC troubleshooting experience, including working with control systems and identifying faults.
Familiarity with maintenance of gearboxes, motors, and other rotating equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with welding, particularly the ability to weld stainless steel, is a significant plus.
Comfort working with hydraulic systems, including cylinders, valves, and pumps.
Experience working with pneumatics, including air lines, valves, and actuators.
Exposure to preventive maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ability to use levels, plumb bobs, straightedges, and other precision tools to align and adjust equipment.
Strong attention to detail and documentation habits when completing work orders and maintenance reports.
Willingness to obtain additional certifications that enhance technical skills and earning potential.

Work Environment
This role is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility, where some areas can become very hot due to the operation of machinery. You will work around industrial equipment such as engines, motors, conveyor systems, pumps, gearboxes, and production machines, using tools including hoists, cranes, and various hand and power tools. The shift is 2nd shift, typically from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Monday through the end of the workweek as scheduled. The facility maintains a parts storage area so components and materials are readily available for maintenance work. Uniforms are supplied, and radios are provided to support communication across the plant. Electrical technicians may also receive a laptop to assist with troubleshooting and documentation. The environment is hands-on, industrial, and fast-paced, requiring adherence to safety practices, including lockout/tagout procedures, while working in and around active production areas.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
