About The Role:
CBRE's Investment Accounting & Reporting Solutions group is seeking a Design & Construction Senior Controller to join a collaborative team focused supporting a portfolio of clients. This role is responsible for leading a team of Controllers and Assistant Controllers who create real estate accounting transactions and the production of the various resulting financial reports and statements for development projects.
What You'll Do:
· Review assigned work product, including financial packages and workpapers, to ensure complete, accurate, and timely delivery.
· Adhere to Client Accounting Policies and Procedures (CAPP).
· Review and create complex property budgets and forecasting.
· Participate in new property and client transitions, and client audit requests.
· Communicate requests for additional services to senior management and understand the scope of accounting services for the properties in portfolio.
· Prepare and oversee advanced financial statement packages, including creating and posting journal entries, ensuring cash receipts and expense payables are recorded, preparing and submitting funding requests, preparing and submitting owner's distributions, and other transactions.
· Oversee the preparation of development cost reports in PM Web.
· Ensure contracts and change orders on projects are properly maintained in PM Web.
· Work with project executives to update and review anticipated project costs, including monthly variance report.
· Reconcile PM Web development cost reports to general ledger and loan draws.
· Oversee the preparation of funding requests.
· Manage the payment or rejection of development fees, payroll, and reimbursables. Manage cash balances.
· Assist in the preparation of financial reporting.
· Oversee projects including purchase/sale pro rations, property software setups, opening/closing entry generations, and maintenance of Policy & Procedure manuals.
· Resolve and respond to escalated issues and requests, including answering questions regarding various accounting issues and reports.
· Partners with the field and Account Management teams to ensure requirements and terms of the client's Management Agreement are adhered to based upon working knowledge of these agreements.
· Coordinate work with other team members within single point-of-contact (SPOC) guidelines.
· Troubleshoot issues to ensure internal and external requests are handled timely, accurately, and with a focus on customer service.
· Mentor and provide training and guidance to team members.
· Provide assistance such as technical guidance to coworkers.
· May coordinate and assign tasks to coworkers within a project.
· Support internal and external audits, providing required documentation and explanations.
· Ensure adherence to CBRE's IA&R standards, SOX compliance (if applicable), and client-specific policies.
· Drive improvements in accounting procedures, reporting automation, and workflow efficiencies.
· Support onboarding of new clients and transition of new scopes of work.

· Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience required.
· Experience with development level accounting, including preparing and reviewing workpapers, required.
· Experience with accounting software systems such as Yardi preferred.
· Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations including knowledge of financial terms and principles to include accounting methods (cash, accrual, and full GAAP).
· Technical financial skills and knowledge of GAAP, FASB, REIS, IFRS, and in-region/in-country standards where applicable.
· Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related tools.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner with clients and cross-functional teams.
· Strong quantitative skills, with the ability to perform moderately complex financial calculations such as percentages, fractions, and related numerical analyses.
