Description
The Transmission Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design of transmission electronics and software for military ground vehicles including tanks, howitzers, and infantry fighting vehicles. Projects will include the full scope of product development including research, design, prototyping, and testing of functional improvements. This engineer will report to the Manager of Transmission Engineering and will perform their job duties with the oversight of a Project Engineer.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for electrical systems design, analysis, integration, and performance evaluation in combat vehicle applications. This includes FPGA, PCB, harnesses, enclosures, controllers, sensors, motor/generators, inverters, and effectors.
Support development of hybrid power packs including designing, testing, and integrating the electrical components that combine internal combustion engines with electric propulsion, including battery packs, inverters, and electric motors.
Develop controller architecture design plans by researching, analyzing, selecting, and applying powertrain control engineering techniques and criteria. This involves circuit design including parameters, stability, bandwidth, noise, parasitic effects, impedances, high-frequency behavior, filters, and EMI compatibility.
Develop & release detailed design specifications including CAD models, schematics, and drawings for qualification and production release using Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
Work in a cross-functional environment including interfacing with program management, project engineering, test engineering, analysts, designers, and mechanical engineering. Also includes interfacing with customers and suppliers.
Compose design verification test plans that capture all performance data to assess new design requirements compliance. Oversee qualification activities including HIL/SIL, bench, dynamometer, and vehicle level testing.
Participate in root cause failure analysis investigations on electronic and electro-mechanical systems.
Analyzes electrical and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
Prepares electrical design reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
Supports investigations involving the origination or modification of electronic components, firmware, or software specifications and requirements.
Maintain existing product design including support of technical data packaged (TDP), production and supply chain support.
