Job Title: Electrical Drafter
Job Description
This role focuses on creating and modifying electrical and electronic schematics using AutoCAD Electrical to support turnkey power generation solutions. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to develop accurate, compliant, and complete schematics and technical documentation. The position requires strong drafting expertise in power systems, including medium and low voltage applications, and a solid understanding of relevant codes and standards. You will also support instrumentation and controls (I&C) activities, including lab equipment drawings, installation support, and testing, while continuously developing your technical skills and drafting best practices.
Responsibilities
Create and modify detailed electrical and electronic schematics using AutoCAD Electrical to support turnkey power generation solutions.
Partner with engineers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to develop accurate, complete schematics and technical documentation.
Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry standards, the National Electric Code (NEC), and other relevant codes and standards.
Conduct thorough quality reviews of schematics to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
Maintain organized, up-to-date documentation of all schematics, revisions, and related records in an accessible and structured format.
Support the instrumentation and controls (I&C) team with lab equipment drawings, including panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and associated documentation.
Assist with installation and testing activities for power generation and control systems by providing accurate drawings and technical input.
Collaborate with engineering teams to develop detailed technical specifications and ensure that schematics align with functional and performance requirements.
Apply drafting best practices to improve clarity, consistency, and maintainability of electrical drawings and documentation.
Support troubleshooting activities by interpreting schematics and collaborating with technical teams to diagnose and resolve issues in power generation and automation systems.
Leverage experience with medium voltage, low voltage, and power generation systems and controls to enhance design quality and system reliability.
Use electronics test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and function generators, to support validation and verification of designs when needed.
Continuously develop and refine technical skills in AutoCAD Electrical, electrical design, and related drafting tools and methodologies.
Essential Skills
10+ years of drafting experience in electrical design or electrical schematics.
5+ years of hands-on experience using AutoCAD Electrical for electrical drafting and design.
3+ years of experience working with medium voltage, low voltage, power generation systems, and controls.
2+ years of experience with installation or troubleshooting of industrial automation equipment.
Strong proficiency in electrical drafting, including creation of schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and other relevant electrical codes and standards.
Experience with the installation, operation, or troubleshooting of industrial automation equipment.
Experience using electronics test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and function generators.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems using schematics and test equipment.
Proficiency in CAD tools for electrical design, including AutoCAD Electrical.
Solid understanding of power systems, including medium voltage and low voltage applications in power generation environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD tools for related mechanical or electrical design tasks.
Experience in electronics and familiarity with electronic components and circuits.
Experience supporting power generation projects or systems with a focus on power and control applications.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering and project teams.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate, well-organized documentation.
Willingness to continuously learn and improve drafting techniques, tools, and industry best practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $38.00/hr.
