Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Job Description
This Electrical Engineer role supports construction projects from concept through completion by managing materials, documentation, design coordination, and client communication. You will work closely with project teams to review drawings and specifications, support day-to-day project operations, and lead electrical systems design for building projects. The position combines field-focused construction support with office-based design and documentation, offering exposure to multiple projects ranging from several small jobs to large, complex initiatives.
Responsibilities
Support project teams with the day-to-day operations of electrical construction projects.
Manage material procurement, including performing quantity take-offs, coordinating with the purchasing team, and using tracking tools to ensure products are delivered on schedule.
Track and organize project documents, including drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
Review project drawings and specifications to understand project scope, criteria, and requirements, and ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Establish, create, and maintain submittals in conjunction with submittal logs to support timely approvals and material deliveries.
Assist with the production and processing of Requests for Information (RFIs), ensuring clear and accurate communication with all stakeholders.
Prepare and support change order pricing, including lump sum change orders, and track Field Work Orders and related proposals.
Assist the engineering department on design/build projects, contributing to electrical design solutions that meet client and project requirements.
Lead electrical systems design for building projects, including power systems, lighting, and associated controls.
Perform design calculations for power distribution, lighting, and control systems to support code-compliant and efficient designs.
Prepare and coordinate electrical construction documents using tools such as Revit and AutoCAD.
Review electrical drawings for accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project criteria and standards.
Coordinate and collaborate with other disciplines and team members to ensure integrated and conflict-free designs.
Coordinate schedules with field teams and onsite superintendents to align engineering deliverables with construction activities.
Coordinate schedules and deliverables with vendors, manufacturers, and subcontractors to support timely procurement and installation.
Interact with clients, interpret their needs and requirements, and provide timely, professional responses throughout the project.
Prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a dynamic environment with time-sensitive deadlines, maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
Understand and follow operating procedures within company and jobsite guidelines, including safety and quality standards.
Represent the company in a safe, professional manner during meetings, site visits, and all project-related interactions.
Contribute to project management activities related to electrical scope, including tracking progress, supporting schedules, and assisting with documentation and reporting.
Essential Skills
Minimum 5 years of experience in the electrical construction industry as a Field Engineer and/or Electrical Designer.
Hands-on experience with electrical construction projects, including low voltage systems and related field activities.
Strong understanding of electrical engineering and electrical design principles for building power and lighting systems.
Proficiency with Revit for electrical design and coordination.
Proficiency with AutoCAD for preparing and reviewing electrical drawings.
Experience with construction documentation, including drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for communication, documentation, and reporting.
Proficiency with Adobe tools for reviewing and managing project documents.
Proficiency with Bluebeam for markups, reviews, and coordination of construction documents.
Ability to problem solve and drive positive resolutions in a fast-paced project environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage documentation, track materials, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong research and analytical skills to support design decisions, pricing, and project planning.
Ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with field teams, engineers, vendors, and clients.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal forms.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
Experience in project management within the electrical construction or engineering environment is preferred.
Knowledge of inventory and supply management is preferred.
Experience working on design/build projects is beneficial.
Experience with low voltage systems and construction coordination is an advantage.
Adept at documentation and record-keeping to support compliance, quality, and project tracking.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also managing individual responsibilities.
Comfort working with less formal RFIs while maintaining clarity and traceability in communication.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
