Description
Electromech is seeking a hands-on, experienced Senior Electrical Motor Design Engineer to own the cradle-to-grave design and development of motors and electromagnetic devices for aerospace, defense, and industrial programs. This role supports the full product lifecycle, including concept development, requirements definition, simulation, material selection, prototyping, testing, qualification, release, customer interface, and sustaining engineering. The ideal candidate brings directly relevant experience with motor and electromagnetic product design, strong documentation discipline, customer-facing communication skills, and the ability to work across a high-reliability electromechanical environment. This role is intended for an engineer who can add technical depth to a growing team and support both new product development and sustaining work. What You Will Do 1. Design and develop PMDC, wound-field DC, BLDC, and AC induction motors, along with related electromagnetic devices such as RVDTs, LVDTs, synchros, resolvers, and feedback devices 2. Perform electromagnetic simulation, trade studies, and material selection to validate performance, efficiency, reliability, and manufacturability 3. Develop motor electrical architectures, winding approaches, electrical interfaces, and design documentation from concept through release 4. Support integration of motors with drives, control electronics, sensors, and interface circuitry 5. Create and maintain drawing packages, models, BOMs, calculations, specifications, and supporting technical documentation 6. Support proto@type builds, validation testing, qualification testing, environmental testing, root-cause investigations, and production transition 7. Interface directly with customers and cross-functional teams to resolve requirements, technical issues, and product performance concerns 8. Partner closely with mechanical, manufacturing, quality, test, and program teams to support product development and sustaining engineering 9. Analyze test data and proto@type performance using engineering tools and sound analytical methods 10. Support FMEA, MTBF / reliability analysis, and design improvement activities 11. Research new materials, technologies, and methods to improve motor performance, durability, and producibility 12. Contribute to a high-reliability engineering environment supporting aerospace, defense, and industrial applications

Required Qualifications 1. BS in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline 2. 5-7 years of current motor or electromagnetic product design experience 3. Strong background in similar products, including motors, actuators, resolvers, synchros, or feedback devices 4. Experience supporting programs from concept through release and sustaining support 5. Experience with electromagnetic design principles, motor topologies, and product performance tradeoffs 6. Hands-on experience with prototyping, lab troubleshooting, validation, and qualification support 7. Strong documentation discipline and ability to prepare engineering deliverables for release 8. Strong cross-functional collaboration and customer-facing communication ability 9. Ability to support both new development and sustaining work 10. U.S. Person required to meet export-control compliance Preferred Qualifications 1. Experience with Ansys Electronics Desktop, RMxprt, Simcenter Motorsolve, and/or Simcenter Magnet 2. Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor, Mathcad, Microsoft Office, and Synergis Adept or similar document/configuration tools 3. Experience with motor drives, power electronics integration, and electrical interface development 4. Familiarity with DO-160, MIL-STD-810, or similar aerospace / defense qualification environments 5. Experience in high-reliability aerospace, defense, industrial, or motion-control products 6. Experience supporting qualification, customer technical reviews, and production transition activities

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
