Front Desk / Patient Services Representative

Location: Owosso

Training Location: Bay City (first 2 weeks - mileage reimbursed)

Schedule:

Monday-Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Friday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Job Summary

A busy and well-established orthotic and prosthetic medical practice is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Front Desk / Patient Services Representative for its Owosso location. This position supports a high-volume clinic (20-35 patients per day) and plays a critical role in patient experience, insurance processes, and front-office operations.

The selected candidate will complete two weeks of training at the Bay City location, with reimbursed mileage, before transitioning to the Owosso office.

Key Responsibilities

Greet and check in patients professionally and efficiently

Answer phones and assist patients with general inquiries

Verify, enter, and maintain accurate patient demographic information

Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations/precertifications

Quote and collect patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance

Schedule and manage patient appointments

Update patient records within the EMR system

Provide general administrative and front office support

Cross-train in patient check-out and prior authorization functions

Perform all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of medical office front desk experience

Minimum 2 years of EMR/electronic medical record system experience

Minimum 2 years of experience with medical terminology

Proven experience verifying insurance coverage

Strong computer proficiency and attention to detail

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in an orthotic and prosthetic medical office (preferred/bonus)

Familiarity with OPIE EMR

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Owosso, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $18.00/hr.
