Salary: $60,000 - $62,000
The History Department is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for a high-level Operations and Finance Manager.
Harpur College is seeking an individual to join the History Department as an Operations and Finance Manager. This person supervises the departmental office and staff, ensuring that all administrative matters run responsibly and smoothly. The operations manager is a crucial member of the team in curricular planning and course building, advising the chair and departmental officers, carrying out marketing initiatives, and managing all data and records for departmental programs and personal cases. This position involves important, daily supervisory roles in overseeing an office assistant and administrative assistant.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Advise and assist the Chair, Graduate Director, and Undergraduate Director
Supervise, train, and mentor two department support staff
Contribute to problem-solving and identify ways to improve departmental efficiency
Compile statistics, generate departmental reports, and oversee data management
Academic Coordination
Lead curricular planning and course scheduling (Banner) and manage department catalogue/Bulletin
Attend department meetings, take notes, and create minutes as necessary
Oversee graduate TA assignments, student registration, recruitment using Slate, office space
Financial Stewardship
Manage various departmental finance accounts and funding sources, track revenues/expenses, funds transfer, oversee budgeting
Update monthly finance database. Utilize Business Intelligence platforms for reporting.
HR paperwork processing
Assist with managing graduate funding lines and discretionary departmental awards
Communications & Events
Organize annual departmental social events and lectures (together with faculty)
Coordinate with the Harpur Dean's office and the Division of Marketing as needed
Oversee communications, both among faculty and between faculty and students
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
2+ years of professional experience
Experience with computer software, i.e. office products, email, online calendar management, database management, etc.
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Effective organization skills and attention to detail
Preferred:
Master's degree in the liberal arts or related
Experience in an office administration role, i.e. records management, resource allocation, budget and financial management, maintenance of confidential records, etc.
Supervisory experience of professional employees
Experience in higher education
