Job Title: Control Panel Technician / Fabricator
Job Description
This role focuses on the physical assembly, wiring, and testing of industrial control panels used in applications such as oil and gas, chemical plants, and custom automation projects. You will build control panels to detailed prints and schematics, including layout and mounting of components, wiring all devices, installing completed panels onto equipment, and performing thorough testing to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Position would be a direct hire.
Responsibilities
Dimension and lay out back panels and enclosures according to drawings and specifications.
Mount electrical and control components securely on back panels and within enclosures.
Route and bundle wires and cables neatly to meet established wiring and workmanship standards.
Perform point-to-point wiring of relays, control devices, PLCs, I/O modules, variable frequency drives (VFDs), interfaces, and instrumentation.
Carry out mechanical, electrical, and basic network installation of control systems as required.
Troubleshoot control panels to identify and correct wiring errors, component issues, and other functional problems.
Maintain accurate red-line markups of drawings to reflect all changes made during fabrication.
Communicate red-line changes clearly to the Manufacturing Manager or appropriate team member for revision before job completion.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support panel fabrication and system integration.
Essential Skills
Minimum 2 years of experience in control panel fabrication, panel building, or closely related electrical assembly work.
Proven ability to perform point-to-point wiring and mechanical assembly of control panels and cabinets.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
Working knowledge of PLC hardware, including Allen-Bradley PLC assembly.
Solid understanding of electrical theory and terminology relevant to industrial control systems.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Effective interpersonal skills and a positive, can-do attitude when working with others.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with panel building, panel wiring, and panel assembly in an industrial setting.
Hands-on experience with PLC panels and cabinet fabrication.
Familiarity with routing, bundling, and terminating control wiring to industry standards.
Comfort working with mechanical assembly tasks associated with mounting and installing control equipment.
Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of control circuits and components.

Work Environment
This position is based in a fabrication shop focused on building PLC control panels and cabinets. The production area is climate controlled and staffed by a small team of approximately eight employees, creating a collaborative and focused work setting. Core hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a typical schedule of around 40 hours per week and occasional Saturday work when needed. The team is currently working some 10-hour days to support overtime requirements. A standard lunch break is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The work involves hands-on mechanical and electrical assembly using tools and equipment common to control panel fabrication, including working with PLC hardware, wiring tools, and test equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
