Job Description
This role provides technical and administrative support to a Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) engineering team within a research and development laboratory focused on aerospace components. You will help enable the development of a universal inspection method for aerospace parts by coordinating inspection activities, supporting analysis of NDE data, and ensuring timely delivery of inspection tools and services. This position is ideal for a recent Mechanical or Electrical Engineering graduate with internship experience in manufacturing who wants to build a career in aerospace, NDE, or broader engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Provide technical and administrative support to the NDE engineering team to facilitate processing and delivery of inspection tools.
Coordinate inspection assignments for inspectors and track the progress of their work and results.
Support the analysis and organization of NDE data from methods such as Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, and Borescope techniques.
Request quotes from vendors for inspection tools, services, and related materials, and monitor vendor progress against schedule requirements.
Verify that vendor deliverables meet specified requirements upon delivery and communicate any issues to the engineering team.
Assist with project coordination activities, including scheduling meetings, maintaining project timelines, and tracking action items.
Support program and project management tasks, including basic budget tracking and schedule updates under guidance from senior staff.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing engineering, process engineering, and other technical groups to support NDE-related projects.
Maintain accurate records of inspector assignments, inspection results, and project documentation using tools such as Excel and SAP.
Prepare and contribute to technical documentation and basic report writing related to NDE inspections, measurements, and instrumentation.
Help ensure that all work follows established processes and standards within a structured, process-driven environment.
Adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic lab setting while maintaining strong organization and follow-through.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent engineering discipline.
0+ years of industry experience, with at least one internship in a manufacturing environment required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data tracking, reporting, and basic analysis.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, assignments, and changing priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with engineers, inspectors, and cross-functional teams.
Experience working with cross-functional teams in an engineering or manufacturing setting.
Foundational knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering principles.
Ability to support project management activities, including scheduling, coordination, and basic budget awareness.
Comfort working in a structured, process-driven organization.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Experience or coursework related to NDE, measurement, instrumentation, or inspection methods is a plus.
Familiarity with non-destructive evaluation techniques such as Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, and Borescope is beneficial.
Experience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Exposure to manufacturing engineering or process engineering environments.
Experience with project engineering or project coordination in an engineering @context.
Ability to contribute to design-related activities and technical report writing.
Interest in aerospace, flight safety, and cutting-edge inspection technologies.
Desire to pursue a career path in NDE or broader engineering roles within a large, structured organization.
Work Environment
This position is based full-time onsite at a major aerospace campus in East Hartford. You will work in a dynamic R&D laboratory environment that focuses on developing and refining non-destructive evaluation methods such as Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, and Borescope inspections for aerospace parts. The team frequently adjusts priorities to address emerging technical challenges, so you will work in a fast-paced setting that values flexibility, strong organization, and clear communication. The organization is highly structured and process-driven, offering exposure to well-established engineering procedures, tools, and systems such as SAP and standard project management practices. The work is deeply connected to flight safety and cutting-edge aerospace innovation, providing a rewarding sense of purpose. The role is hourly and eligible for overtime at 1.5 times the base rate for hours worked over 40 per week. During the contract period, you receive paid time off and paid holidays, and there is potential eligibility for short periods of unemployment benefits between assignments in accordance with local regulations. The position offers strong prospects for long-term career growth, including the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role within NDE or moving into other engineering opportunities across the broader organization.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
