We are seeking an Entry-Level Software Engineer (0-3 years of experience) to join our Compass engineering team. This role is ideal for a motivated engineer who is eager to learn, adaptable in day-to-day work, and excited to contribute to real-world systems used globally. You will work closely with experienced engineers and receive peer mentorship, hands-on guidance, and exposure to embedded systems, application software, automated testing, and modern development practices.
On a typical day you will:
Contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software for the Compass product line
Work on Linux-based systems and embedded platforms
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA and field support
Write clean, maintainable, and testable code
Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and agile development activities
Learn new technologies and tools as part of your regular workflow
Roll up your sleeves to troubleshoot issues, improve existing systems, and support product enhancements
What you will need to be successful:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
0-3 years of experience, or a strong eagerness to learn about: Linux environments (Ubuntu, Yocto), Scripting (bash, etc.), Python, C / C++, Qt Framework, Java, Go, Git
Automated testing and various testing frameworks
Networking fundamentals (IPv4, IPv6, TCP/IP, messaging, protocols)
Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, etc.)
Eager to learn new skills and technologies.
Adaptable and flexible with day-to-day priorities.
A collaborative team player with a positive attitude.
Comfortable taking initiative and engaging in hands-on work.
Possesses an innovator's mindset, always looking for ways to enhance user experience.

The salary range for this role is $61,000 - $91,000. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may change in the future. Pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
