For more information visit: Office of Electric Reliability (OER) | Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Responsibilities As a Supervisory Electrical Engineer, some of your typical work assignments may include: Leading and overseeing the evaluation of reliability standards, engineering analyses, reliability assessments, tariff provisions, compliance and other regulatory policy matters affecting the reliability of the bulk power system, ensuring alignment with statutory and regulatory requirements. Assisting in setting Division priorities, managing workload distribution, and ensuring timely completion of high-impact regulatory and technical deliverables. Providing leadership in managing and evaluating staff performance, and in employee development and workforce planning, while fostering accountability, collaboration, and high performance. Evaluating complex technical, regulatory, and operational issues and data to facilitate staff's ability to develop evidence-based technical recommendations for senior leadership and Commission decision-making. Building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal offices, external agencies, and industry stakeholders to support regulatory objectives. In addition to the education required for this position, you must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 level. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience leading and managing complex engineering, regulatory, or operational programs related to electric power systems, reliability standards, or energy infrastructure. Experience must include applying expert knowledge of bulk power system operations, reliability standards, and regulatory frameworks to evaluate technical, compliance, or policy issues; directing multidisciplinary teams; prioritizing and overseeing high-impact work products; and advising senior leadership on matters affecting system reliability, security, and compliance. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
