Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on and versatile Manufacturing Engineer with strong experience in electro-mechanical systems to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and provide technical guidance throughout the product lifecycle. This role bridges the gap between design and production, ensuring manufacturing processes are robust, scalable, and aligned with product requirements. You will interpret complex technical data packages, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers, and drive continuous improvement in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with R&D, design, and supply chain teams to transition products from development to full-scale production.
Develop, refine, and validate manufacturing processes for new products, including tooling, fixtures, and assembly methods.
Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with NPI and DFM principles.
Interpret and clarify engineering drawings, GD&T, PCBA schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and specifications for internal teams and external suppliers.
Serve as the primary point of contact for technical questions related to the Technical Data Package (TDP).
Ensure all technical documentation is complete, accurate, controlled, and production-ready.
Define, document, and optimize assembly and test processes for electro-mechanical systems.
Lead or support root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for production issues.
Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, throughput, and cost.
Work closely with procurement, quality, and supplier engineering teams to ensure alignment on technical and quality requirements.
Support supplier onboarding, including technical training and clarification of manufacturing and quality expectations.
Collaborate with design and R&D teams to ensure new products are designed for manufacturability and efficient assembly.
Support process validation activities, including trials, pilot builds, and documentation of process parameters and acceptance criteria.
Engage with contract manufacturers and suppliers to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturing performance.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of manufacturing standards, work instructions, and best practices.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in electromechanical or defense/aerospace systems.
Strong understanding of New Product Introduction (NPI) processes and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles.
Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, PCBA schematics, and bills of materials (BOMs).
Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or equivalent tools.
Experience with manufacturing data and document management systems such as PDM, Autodesk Vault, or SW Composer.
Strong understanding of electro-mechanical assembly processes and associated quality requirements.
Experience working with suppliers and contract manufacturers to support production and resolve technical issues.
Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, and composites.
Familiarity with ERP and PLM systems for managing materials, configurations, and product data.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of IPC standards and industry best practices for electronics manufacturing.
Hands-on experience with assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electromechanical systems.
Experience applying lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent process improvement training.
Experience with process improvement, process engineering, and manufacturing process optimization.
Familiarity with composite manufacturing and advanced materials processing.
Ability to create and maintain clear work instructions, process documentation, and technical reports.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to product quality and reliability.
