Summary You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENT of COMNAVREG MIDLANT NORFOLK. Responsibilities You will develop fire and life safety inspection programs for fire suppression personnel. You will develop long-range plans (e.g., facilities, manpower and material resources, training programs, prevention and suppression techniques) for a fire program. You will inspect equipment (e.g., fire extinguisher, sprinkler systems, exits) to verify they are fully operational and meet regulatory requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Demonstrates expert knowledge of program management processes and procedures to include experience in identifying and prioritizing fire prevention and code occupational requirements for sustainment of mission needs; 2) Possesses thorough knowledge of national, DoD, Navy & local fire codes, standards, regulations, and instructions in order to interpret and apply applicable codes to detect and eliminate fire & life safety hazards; 3) Uses skills in selecting the applicable code or standard relevant to particular @types of facilities and hazards, @type of construction and other variables; 4) Analyzes and interprets codes & standards to make compliance determinations; 5) Possesses clear oral communication and public speaking skills which are required in order to provide fire and life safety training and events; 6) Possesses skills in writing reports, case notes, briefings, instructions & regulations, and written correspondence; and 7) Demonstrates knowledge in post-fire investigation cause and origination techniques and theory. CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Position is either a 40 hour / 80 hour bi-weekly or a 56 hour / 112 hour bi-weekly work schedule based on candidate certification(s) and eligibility: - IFSAC, ProBoard or DoD Fire Firefighter I & II (Required for 56 hr work week) - IFSAC, ProBoard or DoD Fire Instructor II - IFSAC, ProBoard or DoD Fire Inspector II - IFSAC, ProBoard, DoD Fire Inspector III or New 2025 NFPA 1030 IFSAC, ProBoard, DOD Fire Inspector (Required for GS12.
