Job Description
The Metals Warehouse Worker plays a key role in safely handling, packing, and processing metal materials in a busy warehouse environment. This position involves heavy lifting, operating basic machinery for cutting metals, and supporting shipping, receiving, and inventory activities. The role requires a reliable, safety-conscious individual with a strong work ethic, excellent attendance, and a positive attitude who enjoys hands-on, physical work.
Responsibilities
Handle, move, and store metal materials within the warehouse, keeping items organized and easily accessible.
Pack metal products securely for shipment, ensuring proper labeling and readiness for delivery.
Lift, carry, and transport heavy metal materials (up to 50 lbs or more) safely and efficiently throughout the shift.
Operate warehouse machines and equipment, such as cutting tools, saws, and slitter machines, to cut and process metal products as needed.
Assist with inventory control by tracking, counting, and documenting materials moving in and out of the warehouse.
Use RF scanners or RF scan guns to pick, track, and verify orders and inventory.
Perform order picking, order pulling, and stocking tasks to support daily production and shipping schedules.
Assist with loading and unloading trucks or containers, using pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
Support shipping and receiving activities, including labeling, packaging, and staging orders for outbound shipments.
Maintain warehouse inventory areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition at all times.
Use hand tools, tape measures, and other basic tools to measure, assemble, and prepare materials and products.
Operate pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts to move pallets and materials, following all safety procedures.
Perform general labor and general production tasks as needed to support overall warehouse operations.
Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition and promptly report any issues or malfunctions.
Follow all safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) consistently.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production deadlines and daily goals.
Work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding, and industrial environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Essential Skills
Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or materials handling environment is preferred.
Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs or more) safely and repeatedly throughout the shift.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and carry heavy materials for extended periods.
Ability to work effectively in hot, noisy, and industrial warehouse conditions.
Willingness and ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times as required.
Basic knowledge of warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, and inventory handling.
Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, or willingness to learn with provided training.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accurate packing, labeling, and inventory tracking.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment while maintaining safety and quality.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and consistent, punctual attendance.
Willingness to follow all safety protocols and work cooperatively as part of a team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with machine operation, including cutting tools, saws, or slitter machines, is a plus.
Occasional machine operation experience with cutting or similar industrial machines is an advantage.
Familiarity with RF scanners or RF scan guns for order picking and inventory tracking is beneficial.
Experience with order picking, order pulling, and warehouse packing is helpful.
Background in material handling, shipping and receiving, and general production or assembly work is a plus.
Comfort using hand tools and tape measures to handle and prepare metal materials.
Experience operating sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks in a warehouse setting is preferred but not required if willing to train.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and must be worn at all times to ensure safety while working with metal materials and operating warehouse equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
