What is Expected of You in this Role The Sales Representative is responsible for driving revenue growth by developing and managing customer relationships across our product lines. This role requires prior, hands-on experience in the lumber industry (wholesale, retail, supplier, or manufacturing) and a strong understanding of lumber species/grades/treatments/applications, and supply chain dynamics. Our Sales Representatives promote and sell a diverse portfolio of lumber products (www.lumbermenassoc.com/products). We have two openings in our Sales team. 1. Position 1 is focused on Industrial Lumber and Retail Lumberyards 2. Position 2 is focused on Fencing and Specialty Lumber Product Line Focus - Position 1 1. Industrial Lumber 2. Sell industrial lumber solutions to manufacturers and distributors of pallet/box manufacturers 3. Understand grade, species, moisture content, and dimensional requirements 4. Coordinate supply consistency and volume commitments 5. Retail Lumberyards 6. Panel products 7. Dimensional lumber Product Line Focus - Position 2 1. Fencing 2. Sell fencing materials and components to contractors and retailers 3. Specialty Lumber (Decking, Trim, Porches) 4. Sell premium PVC decking trim and porch tongue & groove decking 5. Guide customers on aesthetics, performance, and installation considerations 6. Stay current on trends in outdoor living and specialty construction materials Responsibilities for both positions 1. 1. Sales/Business Development 2. Identify, pursue, and grow new and existing customer accounts within assigned territories or market segments - initial focus will on the existing book of business 3. Develop strong relationships with existing and new customers 4. Generate sales opportunities through proactive outreach and industry networking 5. Prepare and present product recommendations, pricing, and quotations tailored to customer applications 6. Occasionally attend industry tradeshows and events to make connections and promote company products/services 7. 2. Account Management & Customer Support 8. Manage accounts from quote through delivery, ensuring accuracy and customer satisfaction 9. Coordinate with operations, purchasing, and logistics teams 10. Resolve pricing, delivery, or quality issues in a timely manner 11. 3. Market & Industry Knowledge 12. Stay current on lumber pricing, market trends, and supply chain conditions 13. Monitor competitor offerings and identify growth opportunities 14. Internal knowledge sharing on market conditions and customer needs 15. 4. Performance Measures 16. Sales revenue and margin growth 17. Customer retention and account expansion 18. New business development 19. Accuracy and timeliness of quotes and orders 20. Customer satisfaction feedback and scores 21. Perform additional tasks as assigned ### What are the Job Requirements? 1. Demonstrated sales skills as through a combination of work experience and academic background 2. Several years of direct sales experience within the lumber industry (wholesale, retail, supplier, or manufacturing) 3. Experience selling multiple lumberproduct lines 4. Established customer/vendor relationships within the lumber industry 5. Strong knowledge of lumber products, grades, treatments, and end-use applications; familiarity with pressure-treated, specialty, and industrial lumber products 6. Proven ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships 7. Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills 8.
