Job Title: Test Engineer
Job Description
The Test Engineer designs, develops, and executes test plans for mechanical and hydraulic components and systems to ensure performance, reliability, and safety. This role focuses on development testing, including performance, endurance, and environmental validation, while working closely with cross-functional engineering teams. The Test Engineer operates specialized lab equipment, analyzes complex test data, and prepares detailed technical documentation that supports high-quality, reliable products used in demanding aerospace applications.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans for mechanical and hydraulic components and systems.
Conduct development testing, including performance, endurance, and environmental validation of components and assemblies.
Operate, monitor, and maintain vibration chambers and other environmental test equipment to support validation activities.
Perform high-pressure hydraulic testing with a strong emphasis on safety, precision, and adherence to established protocols.
Develop and refine custom test procedures and fixtures tailored to specific engineering and validation needs.
Collaborate closely with design and manufacturing teams to refine test procedures and improve product reliability.
Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory test setups and instrumentation, ensuring accurate data collection and reliable operation.
Ensure all lab activities follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures, particularly for high-pressure hydraulic testing.
Collect, organize, and analyze test data using appropriate tools and methods to evaluate performance and reliability.
Prepare comprehensive technical reports and documentation that clearly communicate test methods, results, and recommendations.
Support continuous improvement of test methods, lab processes, and equipment utilization to enhance efficiency and test coverage.
Contribute to the validation of products used in aerospace applications by executing rigorous and repeatable test programs.
Essential Skills
Proven experience in test engineering with a focus on designing and executing test plans for mechanical and hydraulic systems.
Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, preferably including high-pressure hydraulic applications.
Strong background in development testing, including performance, endurance, and environmental validation.
Practical experience operating and maintaining lab instrumentation and test equipment.
Experience with vibration and endurance testing using vibration chambers and long-duration endurance setups.
Ability to develop and execute detailed test procedures and validation plans.
Proficiency in data collection, organization, and analysis to support clear conclusions and recommendations.
Experience in lab testing environments, including setting up and maintaining test rigs and ensuring safe operation.
Demonstrated ability to follow and enforce safety protocols, especially in high-pressure and environmental testing @contexts.
Strong technical writing skills for preparing comprehensive technical reports and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
1+ years Experience as a engineering intern or technician based role with mechanical testing exposure.
Educational lab or internship experience supporting testing procedures.
Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to troubleshooting test setups and test results.
Comfort working with modern lab instrumentation and environmental test equipment.
Interest in professional growth and the ability to take on increasing responsibility within a growing engineering organization.
Work Environment
The role is based in a modern, well-equipped engineering lab that supports a growing and established organization. You will work within a team of approximately eight full-time engineers and two contractors, collaborating closely on development and validation projects. The environment emphasizes safety, especially around high-pressure hydraulic systems and environmental test equipment such as vibration chambers. The organization invests in its facilities and tools, providing up-to-date lab instrumentation and test setups to support advanced testing needs. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Collins, CO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $55.00/hr.
