What You'll Be Doing
Job Scope: Generally responsible for performing all aspects for complete designs of small and large mechanical engineering assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This work will be performed under general supervision.
Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
The Worker shall support site management with contractor oversight and contract administration on the Project to which they are assigned, including field coordination of activities and administrative tasks related to contract documentation in Purchaser's Unifier for their assigned discipline. These documents include but are not limited to Project Specifications, Drawings, General Conditions, and Special Conditions.
The Worker shall adhere to and ensure onsite contractor adherence to site safety procedures and programs, including behavior-based safety (BBS) program utilizing the Purchaser's software.
The Worker shall adhere to and participate in the Purchaser's Stop Work Authority (SWA) program.
The Worker shall adhere to and participate in Southern Safety Trilateral (SST) front-line supervisor training.
The Worker shall adhere to and ensure onsite contractor adherence to site quality procedures and programs, including participation in quality surveillance program utilizing the Purchaser's software.
The Worker shall document daily activities and interactions with contractors through the Daily Log form in Unifier. Frequency to be set by individual Project site.
The Worker shall attend and participate in the necessary Project meetings based on their individual role.
The Worker shall become familiar with and be able to interpret any technical specifications and drawings related to the scope of work they are overseeing.
The Worker shall coordinate and facilitate receipt of material and/or equipment delivery as designated by the Purchaser's representative.
The Worker shall complete any necessary deliverables as defined by their individual role or as directed by Purchasers onsite representatives.
The Worker shall ensure contractors follow and adhere to all LOTO and confirmed space procedures, including serving as Purchaser's representative when ensuring all LOTOs are performed, setup, requested, documented, walked down, and maintained as required.
The Worker shall assist the Purchaser with development of scopes of work for competitive inquiries.
The Worker shall assist the Purchaser in year end contractor evaluations for the work the Worker is overseeing.
The Worker shall assist the Purchaser in contract closeout activities for the work the Worker is overseeing.
The Worker shall assist the Purchaser in invoice validation for the work the Worker is overseeing.
The Worker shall coordinate their daily activities to support the Project with Purchaser's onsite representatives.
The Worker shall understand their role/responsibilities and be able to respond to site/project conditions, as applicable, on behalf of the Purchaser's onsite representatives in a timely manner and with minimal direction or supervision.
The Worker shall immediately report any incidents, unsafe conditions, unusual activities, or otherwise unforeseen circumstances to the Purchaser's onsite representative.
Ideal Background
Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required.
Registration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.
Experience: This position requires 3+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical engineering.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of design standards and codes.
Knowledge, application and specification of piping materials.
Development of piping material and material procurement specifications.
Knowledge of good design practices for sizing all piping systems.
Sizing of compressible fluid piping systems.
Flexibility and stress analysis of moderately complex piping systems.
Specify criteria for and select piping specialty items.
Design of moderately complex process and utility piping systems.
Knowledge of manual valve sizing, use and application.
Knowledge of application of piping supports and restraints.
Identification of need, application and specification of safety valves and devices to maintain the mechanical integrity of piping systems.
Identification of need, application and specification of steam traps and liquid drainers.
Estimating piping related construction quantities from conceptual documents.
Knowledge of other disciplines deliverable development to ensure coordination of design efforts.
Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
Knowledge of the discipline specific methods, practices and techniques required to engineer, design and construct process and manufacturing projects.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent presentation skills.
Virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships are developed and able to provide interoffice execution support with general supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
