This role focuses on delivering accurate, well-documented cost estimates that support preconstruction and business development efforts for complex facilities such as manufacturing plants, process facilities, power projects, and heavy infrastructure. The position requires deep technical expertise in industrial electrical systems, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project management, engineering, and operations teams.
Responsibilities
Lead the preparation of comprehensive electrical cost estimates for industrial construction projects from conceptual design through final bid phases.
Review and interpret plans, specifications, schedules, and contract documents to fully understand project scope, requirements, and potential risks.
Perform or oversee detailed quantity take-offs for materials, equipment, and labor, including power distribution, switchgear, motor controls, instrumentation, controls, and low-voltage systems.
Develop pricing strategies that account for labor productivity, material escalation, equipment costs, indirect costs, overhead, and project-specific risk factors.
Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor proposals to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive pricing.
Identify scope gaps, conflicts, and assumptions, and develop clear clarifications, inclusions, and exclusions to accompany bid submissions.
Prepare and submit complete, professional bid packages within required deadlines and in accordance with client and project requirements.
Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, and operations teams on constructability reviews, value engineering opportunities, and execution planning.
Attend and actively participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and scope review meetings to validate assumptions and refine estimates.
Maintain and contribute to historical cost databases, labor models, and estimating standards to improve accuracy and consistency of future estimates.
Support project handoff by clearly communicating scope, pricing assumptions, and identified risk items to operations and project delivery teams.
Mentor junior estimators and contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and best practices.
