Job Title: Design Engineer
Job Description
The Design Engineer will perform advanced 2D and 3D gas turbine rotor finite element analyses using Ansys, working closely with CAD models from a Product Lifecycle Management system. This role involves evaluating low cycle fatigue crack initiation and propagation, documenting analytical results, and presenting findings to project teams and leadership. The engineer will also support task automation using Python and contribute to a collaborative, technology-driven environment with opportunities for long-term growth.
Responsibilities
Execute 2D and 3D gas turbine rotor finite element analyses using Ansys, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
Perform post-processing activities, including evaluation of low cycle fatigue (LCF) crack initiation and LCF crack propagation.
Pull and manage CAD models from a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and work with those models in Siemens NX.
Summarize, interpret, and document analytical results in a clear and structured format for technical and non-technical audiences.
Present findings, updates, and feedback during project status meetings to broader teams and leadership.
Support the automation of recurring or typical analysis tasks using Python to improve efficiency and consistency.
Collaborate with cross-functional team members in design, engineering, and manufacturing to support project goals.
Apply mechanical engineering principles to validate design decisions and support continuous improvement of gas turbine rotor designs.
Essential Skills
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in mechanical or design engineering.
Hands-on experience performing finite element analyses (FEA), preferably using Ansys, on complex mechanical components.
Proficiency with CAD tools and workflows, including working with CAD models from a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
Ability to work with CAD models in Siemens NX.
Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including stress analysis and fatigue behavior.
Experience with low cycle fatigue (LCF) analysis, including crack initiation and crack propagation.
Strong skills in documenting analytical results and preparing technical reports.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings to teams and leadership.
Basic to intermediate proficiency in Python for supporting automation of engineering tasks.
Experience with design and computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools such as AutoCAD or similar software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in design engineering for rotating machinery or gas turbine components.

Ability to work effectively in a team-focused environment and collaborate across engineering and manufacturing functions.
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to analysis and documentation.

Work Environment
The Design Engineer will primarily work in an office environment equipped with state-of-the-art tools and systems, including Ansys, Siemens NX, PLM platforms, and Python-based automation tools. The role will occasionally require time on the manufacturing floor to support engineering and production activities. The position follows a first-shift schedule and operates within a team-focused culture that emphasizes collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $47.00/hr.
