Day to Day
As a Software Engineer I on the AI Gateway & Guardrails team at Indeed, you will contribute to building the platform services that connect Indeed's AI-powered products to large and small language models (LLM and SLM), and safeguard AI actions. You will work alongside experienced engineers developing features for two core services: 1) AI Gateway, Indeed's unified entry point for multiple model providers with built-in best practices, and 2) AI Guardrails Platform, Indeed's universal safety layer for language model-powered products.
This role offers the opportunity to develop skills in cloud-native service development, observability, and AI safety systems while supporting the infrastructure powering some of Indeed's most critical AI products.
Responsibilities
Develop, test, and maintain features for the AI Gateway and AI Guardrails Platform services.
Implement and improve safety guardrails, such as content moderation and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) redaction
Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners to deliver well-designed, maintainable solutions.
Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve code quality.
Contribute to monitoring and observability improvements for production AI services.
Learn and apply best practices in cloud-native development and AI infrastructure engineering.
Skills/Competencies
Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
Familiarity with Node.js, Python, and/or TypeScript
Interest in or exposure to large language models (LLMs) and AI/ML systems
Passion to learn and develop new skills continuously

Tier 1 - United States of America 85,000 - 127,000 USD per year
Tier 2 - United States of America 94,000 - 142,000 USD per year
Tier 3 - United States of America 104,000 - 156,000 USD per year
