The Town of Eastham is seeking a strategic, collaborative, &
forward-thinking Finance Director to serve as a key member of the Town?s
executive leadership team. This opportunity reflects a planned
transition & internal promotion & offers a unique chance to help shape
the Town\'s continued success with a strong commitment to fiscal
stability, transparency, & long-term sustainability. Reporting directly
to the Town Manager, the Finance Director serves as the Town\'s Chief
Financial Officer, leading financial strategy, guiding policy decisions,
& ensuring the continued strength & integrity of Eastham\'s financial
operations. About the Role - Eastham is a financially stable
organization with a strong commitment to responsible budgeting,
long-range planning, & clear communication with residents &
decision-makers. The Finance Director plays a central role in advancing
these priorities while helping the Town navigate evolving fiscal
challenges & opportunities. This position blends strategic leadership,
operational oversight, & public engagement, offering the opportunity to
influence major initiatives & support informed decision-making across
all levels of Town government. Importantly, the Finance Director will
work closely with a highly experienced Town Manager who previously
served as a long-tenured & well-respected municipal Finance Director. In
that role, the Town Manager helped establish many of Eastham?s current
financial policies, practices, & systems. This structure provides a rare
opportunity for ongoing mentorship, collaboration, & professional
development within a supportive & knowledgeable executive environment.
Key Responsibilities Serve as a principal advisor to the Town Manager,
Select Board, & Finance Committee on all financial matters Lead
development of the Town\'s annual operating & capital budgets, financial
forecasts, & long-range plans Oversee municipal financial operations,
including Accounting, Assessing, Treasurer/Collector & support team
leaders, fostering a high-performing, collaborative department
Strengthen internal controls, financial policies, & performance
management systems Communicate complex financial information clearly to
boards, committees, & the public Support strategic initiatives,
including capital investment planning, financial sustainability efforts,
& organizational improvements Leadership & Organizational Impact - This
is more than a traditional finance role. The Finance Director will: Play
a leading role in Town-wide strategic planning & implementation Help
shape policy decisions with clear, data-driven financial analysis
Partner with department leaders to align resources with community
priorities Enhance transparency & public understanding of Eastham?s
financial position Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree in accounting,
finance, public administration, or related field (Master?s preferred)
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in
municipal or governmental finance, including supervisory experience
Strong knowledge of Massachusetts municipal finance laws, regulations, &
reporting requirements Demonstrated experience in budgeting,
forecasting, & financial planning Excellent communication skills &
ability to engage effectively with elected officials & the public We are
