Summary This Supervisory Program Specialist/PACS Administrator for Radiology Service - This position supports the overall mission of the Radiology Service and provides guidance, instruction, maintenance, and trouble shooting in the daily operations in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Service of the Picture Archive and communication system (PACS) and Vista Imaging interface and Voice Recognition (VR) system. The incumbent reports directly to the Chief of Radiology Service. Responsibilities Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Performs supervisory duties, which include, but are not limited to, assignment of work, leave approval, developing performance standards, rating employees, planning, scheduling, resolving complaints, program direction, coordination of work, and recommending disciplinary actions Dedicated to the planning, developing, installation and operation of the PACS Imaging Network. Extracts and assembles information, conducts analysis, and develops reports or presentations. Provides first line technical support for image transmission of display errors related to modalities, Vista interface, display workstations, and printers. Effects repairs, when possible, instructs users in proper operation, and initiates and coordinates repair requests with appropriate services or vendors when necessary. Defines and isolates the specific problem, using available diagnostic and error recovery techniques, and initiates corrective actions. Plans, installs, test, and implements PACS and related systems including application systems, networking interface software, and system administrative software. Identifies and determines training priorities, conducts, and administers training programs, develops, and improves training guidance. Provides training to radiologists and technologists in proper and efficient use of imaging hardware and software and in use of Vista and CPRS software. Develops instructional materials for display of radiographic images at clinic workstations. Develops methods for the collection and retrieval of computer information from established systems to enhance analysis of program related data. Assessment and procurement of new equipment. Identifies problems, gathers data, performs analysis, and proposes solutions to problems and barriers to establishment of an efficient, cost-effective film less radiology environment. Provides analysis of user needs and recommends appropriate hardware and software solutions. Plans, installs, test and implements PACS and related systems including application systems, networking interface software, and system administrative software Responsible for training PACS Team members or employees in the Imaging and Cardiology sections as needed to accomplish the tasks or projects in the required timeframes. Maintains user privileges, PACS user IDs/passwords, network access and security schemes following the applicable VISN and National IT Security guidelines. Incumbent provides users with initial orientation to network environment. Maintains a list of all VR imaging devices and records network address information as required, and physical location. Incumbent maintains a log of users, and their associated access privileges. Performs other related duties as assigned. Preferred Experience Experience in the Picture Archive and Communication system (PACS) and Vista Imaging interface and Voice Recognition (VR) system. Experience of the management of digital image acquisition, processing, display, and storage. Experience maintaining security of the local PACS Network, users, passwords, and the protection and properly authorized distribution of patient information. Experience in supervision, assignment of work, leave approval, developing performance standards, rating employees, planning, scheduling, resolving complaints, program direction, coordination of work, and recommending disciplinary actions and ensures employees know their assignments and responsibilities and monitors to see work is completed accurately and on time Fluent in English and Spanish.
