Seeking a QUALITY SUPERVISOR
The Quality Supervisor supports a growing manufacturing operation by bringing structure, leadership, and consistent processes to the quality function. This newly created role focuses on building and developing a dedicated quality team, standardizing quality practices across departments, and supporting manufacturing quality initiatives throughout the facility. The Quality Supervisor works closely with engineering, production, and other cross-functional teams to ensure that products meet defined quality standards and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
Provide clear leadership and structure to the quality function within the manufacturing operation.
Build, support, and develop a high-performing quality team, including quality technicians.
Set measurable goals and expectations for quality technicians and monitor performance against those goals.
Establish, document, and implement standardized quality processes and procedures across the facility.
Evaluate future team growth and staffing needs to ensure adequate quality coverage and capability.
Support manufacturing quality initiatives across the facility, collaborating closely with production and other departments.
Oversee and participate in quality assurance activities in a manufacturing environment, including inspection and testing.
Use inspection equipment and tools, such as calipers and gauges, to verify product conformance.
Apply quality engineering methods, including PPAP, FMEA, control plans, and audits, to maintain and improve quality standards.
Lead and facilitate root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.
Ensure effective use and maintenance of the quality management system and quality documentation.
Review and interpret engineering drawings and production documents to define and verify quality requirements.
Coordinate with supplier quality, manufacturing, design engineering, purchasing, sales, marketing, and planning to resolve quality concerns.
Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, and other documentation in accordance with internal procedures.
Use Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel, to analyze data, prepare reports, and track quality metrics.
Communicate professionally by email and phone with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Support production supervision and activities on the manufacturing floor, including assembly and fabrication, from a quality perspective.
Promote a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration throughout the facility.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
3-5 years of manufacturing quality experience, preferably in a quality engineering or similar role.
Hands-on experience with PPAP, quality audits, and quality management systems.
Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and production documents accurately.
Experience with quality assurance and quality inspection in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with inspection tools and equipment, including calipers, gauges, and related devices.
Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally by email and phone.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English.
Ability to supervise and support quality technicians and work effectively on the manufacturing floor.
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
Ability to tolerate long periods of sitting and standing as required by the role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with SolidWorks is preferred.
Familiarity with FMEA, control plans, and other structured quality engineering tools.
Experience with supplier quality activities and collaboration with external partners.
Background in assembly and fabrication environments within a manufacturing setting.
Comfort working closely with design engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, sales, marketing, planning, and other functions on a daily basis.
Strong team player with the ability to build relationships and influence across all levels of the organization.
Familiarity with quality inspection equipment and quality management concepts.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving manufacturing environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing environment that includes exposure to machinery, chemicals (as detailed in Safety Data Sheets), dust, and noise. Protective clothing and personal protective equipment may be required, and adherence to safety procedures is essential. The position involves regular presence on the manufacturing floor, including assembly and fabrication areas, as well as time in an office or workstation setting using a computer or other electronic equipment. The role requires the ability to stand and sit for extended periods, move throughout the facility as needed, and lift and move materials up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally. The work environment emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, hands-on engagement with production and inspection activities, and consistent use of standard quality tools and processes.
