Job Title: MEP Mechanical Engineer / Project Design Manager
Essential Skills
At least 5 years of experience in mechanical systems design, including construction drawings and specification review, equipment submittal review, and construction installation and startup inspections.
Proficiency in building modeling software, specifically Revit and Navisworks.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to apply critical and quick thinking.
Solid understanding of core MEP engineering principles and construction practices.
In-depth technical understanding of chilled water plants, heating plants, hydronic distribution systems, air distribution systems, and building management/automation systems (BMS).
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
Mechanical engineering and mechanical design expertise.
Experience with plumbing design and HVAC design.
Demonstrated ability to formulate and enforce work standards and processes for engineering teams.
Experience assigning schedules, reviewing work performance, and managing multiple teams and multiple projects.
Proficiency with building codes relevant to mechanical and MEP systems.
Proficiency with CAD modeling software and project scheduling tools.
Ability to travel anywhere in the United States for project needs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a Project Design Manager capacity or similar leadership role in an engineering environment.
Strong technical understanding of information technology networks and their interaction with building systems.
Familiarity with renewable energy systems and their integration into building designs.
Familiarity with industry-standard principles for energy conservation and optimization.
Experience with energy modeling and economic analysis for evaluating system performance and lifecycle costs.

Job Description
This role combines advanced mechanical systems design with project design management responsibilities. You will lead the design, review, and implementation of complex mechanical and MEP systems while managing multiple teams and projects across different locations. The position requires deep technical expertise in mechanical systems, strong proficiency with building modeling tools, and the ability to guide and develop engineering teams through clear, professional communication. You will work in a hybrid environment, splitting time between office, remote work, and on-site inspections.
Responsibilities
Design and review mechanical systems, including preparing and evaluating construction drawings and specifications.
Review equipment submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements, codes, and standards.
Perform construction installation and startup inspections for mechanical systems and document findings.
Apply a solid understanding of MEP engineering principles and construction practices to deliver high-quality designs and solutions.
Provide in-depth technical leadership on chilled water plants, heating plants, hydronic distribution systems, air distribution systems, and building management/automation systems (BMS).
Use building modeling software such as Revit and Navisworks to develop, coordinate, and refine mechanical designs.
Leverage Microsoft Word and Excel to prepare reports, specifications, schedules, and other project documentation.
Serve as Project Design Manager by formulating and enforcing work standards and processes for design teams.
Assign project schedules and tasks, monitor progress, and review work performance to ensure quality and timeliness.
Communicate policies, goals, and purposes of the organization clearly to team members to align efforts and expectations.
Manage and motivate multiple teams working on multiple concurrent projects, including projects in separate locations.
Provide professional, effective communication to ensure personnel are productive, engaged, and inspired to achieve individual and collective success.
Ensure project teams maintain proficiency in building codes, energy modeling, economic analysis, CAD modeling software, and scheduling tools.
Support and participate in ongoing training and continuing education for personnel and clients to maintain technical excellence.
Incorporate renewable energy systems and energy conservation and optimization principles into project approaches where applicable.
Coordinate with information technology stakeholders to ensure mechanical and MEP designs align with technical requirements of IT networks.
Travel to project sites across the United States to walk job sites, inspect systems, and meet with stakeholders as required.

The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
