Summary
Iowa State University is seeking a Human Resources Partner (HRP) to support units within the Division of Student Affairs and the Office of the Vice President for Research. This position is a key contributor within University Human Resources (UHR)-a collaborative, service-oriented organization dedicated to delivering strategic, high-quality HR solutions that advance the university's mission of learning, discovery, and engagement.
As a trusted advisor and partner, the HRP works closely with campus leaders, managers, and employees, as well as peer HR Partners, HR specialists, and UHR leadership across campus. The role provides direct leadership to three HR Coordinators and plays an essential role in strengthening relationships, optimizing HR practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
The HRP is responsible for delivering strategic and consultative HR services tailored to the unique needs of supported units while ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and UHR standards. Key responsibilities include:
Leading and mentoring HR Coordinators, promoting accountability, professional growth, and consistent, high-quality service delivery
Serving as a trusted partner and point of escalation for complex HR matters, including acting as a business process approver
Driving partnership and alignment between UHR and campus clients by translating institutional HR strategies into practical, unit-level solutions
Communicating, implementing, and continuously improving HR policies, programs, and initiatives to enhance effectiveness and client experience
Providing expert HR consultation to managers, leaders, and employees across the employment lifecycle, including workforce planning, recruitment, talent and performance management, employee relations, engagement, and recognition
Identifying opportunities for process improvement, operational efficiencies, and service enhancements in collaboration with UHR colleagues and campus stakeholders
