Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities for a Secretary (Office Automation), GS-0986-09 generally include, but are not limited to the following: Serving as the Executive Assistant to both the United States Attorney (USA) and the First Assistant United States Attorney (FAUSA) providing a wide variety of technical and administrative support services. Managing and overseeing the day-to-day activities of the immediate office of the USA and FAUSA; Screening telephone calls and visitors desiring to speak with the USA and FAUSA; Arranging conferences and meetings for the USA and FAUSA; Reviewing all outgoing correspondence prepared for the USA and FAUSA's signature, e.g., action documents, case files, legal documents, and reports; Exercising control over the USA and FAUSA's calendar for all appointments, meetings, engagements, and conferences; Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for the position of Secretary (Office Automation), at GS-0986-09, you must meet the qualification requirements listed below. One year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing a wide range of secretarial and administrative support functions. Examples of specialized experience include managing the schedule, travel, commitments and correspondence of the supervisor; composing a variety of written material for the supervisor's signature; arranging conference and meetings for the supervisor; and dealing with senior executives. You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including time-in-grade, by the closing date of this announcement. To be qualified, you must @type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. To be well-qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria. You must provide proof of eligibility to receive selection priority. Such proof may include a copy of your written notification of ICTAP eligibility or a copy of your separation personnel action form. Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)-The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
