Material Handler / Forklift Operator - 2nd Shift (Contract)
Position Overview
The Material Handler / Forklift Operator plays a key role in supporting warehouse and production operations by safely moving, staging, and preparing finished pallets for distribution. This position involves hands-on forklift operation along with pallet preparation, labeling, packaging, and general warehouse support.
This is a 2-3 month temporary, 2nd shift assignment , with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent role based on business needs, though continuation is not guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities
Operate a sit-down forklift to remove pallets from the palletizer and transport them to designated warehouse locations.
Stage, wrap, label, and placard pallets in accordance with company standards and customer requirements.
Organize and store completed pallets to maintain efficient warehouse flow and inventory accuracy.
Use pallet jacks and other material handling equipment to safely move products and materials.
Perform labeling and packaging duties with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Support production activities including loading, unloading, palletizing, order picking, and machine support, as assigned.
Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, lifting, and stretching throughout the shift.
Assist with loading and unloading raw materials and finished goods from trucks and staging areas.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by completing routine housekeeping tasks in warehouse and production areas.
Adhere strictly to safety policies and procedures, particularly within a chemical mixing and production environment, and promptly report safety concerns.
Work a consistent 2nd shift schedule (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, Monday-Friday) with availability for occasional overtime.
Collaborate closely with a small night-shift team and provide support to operators and production staff as needed.
Essential Qualifications
Minimum of 6 months of forklift experience, preferably operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse or production environment.
At least 6 months of warehouse or material handling experience, including loading, unloading, or palletizing.
Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.
Hands-on experience with material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
Comfort working in a production or manufacturing environment with packaging, loading, and machine-support responsibilities.
Dependable attendance and the ability to commit to a 2-3 month contract assignment.
Strong awareness of safety procedures, particularly in environments that include chemical mixing or production.
Willingness to take on a variety of duties as needed, including forklift operation, pallet prep, labeling, packaging, and cleaning.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior palletizing experience in a warehouse or production setting.
Forklift certification.
Previous manufacturing or production experience.
Experience with order picking, unloading, or reach truck operation.
Comfort working in a small, close-knit team during night shift hours.
Flexibility to work occasional overtime based on business demand.

Work Environment
This position is based in a clean, well-organized, and temperature-controlled facility within a chemical mixing and production operation. The site employs approximately 15 employees total, with a small night-shift team of about four operators plus this role.
The work environment places a strong emphasis on safety, with clearly defined procedures and a safety-first culture integrated into daily operations. The role involves regular use of sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, along with consistent physical activity such as lifting, bending, reaching, and stretching. Overtime may be available but is not excessive during the contract period.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
