Summary Electronic Industrials Controls Mechanic for the VA South Texas Healthcare System maintains, installs, and repairs complex electrical and electronic control systems supporting hospital operations. Duties include troubleshooting power distribution, maintaining generators/UPS, programming controls, and ensuring reliability of mission-critical equipment (medical, safety, and facility systems). Role is non-supervisory and based in Kerrville, Texas Responsibilities Installs, modifies, maintains, and repairs electronic industrial control systems and integrated facility equipment. Troubleshoots complex electronic control systems, analyzes system interactions, and isolates faults to component level. Installs and configures electrical distribution systems and associated control components. Maintains and repairs interconnected equipment systems requiring coordinated electrical and control function. Performs preventive maintenance and documents system performance and repairs in maintenance systems. Maintains and repairs emergency power systems (generators, UPS, transfer switches), ensuring operational readiness under load conditions. Troubleshoots power distribution and control systems to resolve outages, shorts, and system imbalances. Interprets electrical schematics, control diagrams, and system layouts to diagnose and repair system faults. Uses diagnostic and test equipment to evaluate system performance and verify corrective actions. Fabricates, modifies, and installs electrical and control system components using hand and power tools (e.g., conduit bending, threading, wiring terminations, and assembly). Adjusts, calibrates, and programs control systems (PLC/DDC or equivalent) to maintain system performance. Determines when systems are unsafe or unreliable, removes from service, and implements temporary solutions. Evaluates contractor work for compliance with codes, standards, and system requirements. Assists other trades in diagnosing complex control-related system issues across facility systems. Develops and applies non-standard troubleshooting and repair methods for complex or recurring system problems.
