Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Lewiston, Maine. This is a long-term contract position that offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to financial operations by managing invoice processing, account coding, and payment accuracy. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining precise financial records.

Responsibilities:

Process and verify invoices to ensure accurate coding and adherence to company policies.

Perform regular account coding and reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records.

Prepare and execute check runs in a timely and efficient manner.

Collaborate with internal teams to address discrepancies and resolve payment issues.

Monitor and maintain the general ledger by recording all accounts payable transactions.

Utilize specialized software to manage invoice processing and payment workflows.

Conduct periodic audits to identify and rectify errors in accounts payable.

Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and organizational standards.

Respond promptly to vendor inquiries regarding payments and account statuses. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable or a related financial role.

Strong knowledge of account coding and invoice processing.

Proficiency in using accounting software and tools for managing financial data.

Ability to handle check runs and ensure timely payments.

Familiarity with general ledger maintenance and reconciliation processes.

Excellent problem-solving skills for resolving payment discrepancies.

Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Effective communication skills for collaborating with vendors and internal teams.
