Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our team. This role involves supporting a wide range of projects and participating in all aspects of the product lifecycle. You will be involved in requirements development, preliminary design, critical design, proto@type, test, and production phases. As an Engineer, you will tackle challenging technical problems, drive new feature designs, improve product performance, and contribute to the regular delivery of space-bound hardware. Over time, you will gain more autonomy and ownership, with clear opportunities for career growth.

Responsibilities

Support a wide range of projects throughout the product lifecycle.

Participate in requirements development, preliminary design, critical design, proto@type, test, and production.

Address challenging technical problems and drive new feature designs.

Improve product performance and participate in research and development.

Contribute to the regular delivery of space-bound hardware.

Take on increasing autonomy and ownership over time.

Essential Skills

3-5+ years of experience with PCB design.

Proficiency in C++, C, Python, Cadence, and Altium.

Schematic and PCB design skills using Cadence or Altium.

Experience designing test equipment, including test script development and automation using MATLAB, C/C++, or Python.

5+ years of experience in electrical/electronics engineering in a related or regulated industry.

Experience with power electronics design and development.

3+ years of experience with design and debug of analog, digital, or power electronics.

Circuit analysis, including worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA), component stress, failure mode analysis (FMEA/FMECA), reliability analysis, and radiation effects analysis.

Hardware testing and debugging with tools such as oscilloscopes and programmable power supplies.

Effective documentation skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Familiarity with high-reliability, fault-tolerant, radiation tolerance, and/or safety-critical systems.

Knowledge of EEE parts quality requirements.

Experience designing products for operation in harsh environments.

Supplier management: parts procurement, PCB fabrication, and assembly service.

Experience with environmental testing (thermal, vacuum, EMI/EMC) processes and equipment.

Design for manufacturing and design for testing expertise.

Experience working with quality management systems like ISO-9001, AS9100.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $60.00/hr.
