Duties Description Under the direct supervision of the Park Manager 2, SG-21, or their designee, the Park Worker 2, SG-6, primarily performs a variety of routine cleaning and housekeeping work within the Red House Area operation of Allegany State Park while providing support to other operational areas as assigned. Duties include, but are not limited to:- Assist in the routine cleaning and sanitization of facilities including public restrooms, various camping accommodations, bathhouses, pavilions, and administrative buildings.- Provide training to seasonal staff with respect to departmental operations, established procedures, best practices, and other relevant areas.- Handle complaints or inquiries from the general public while maintaining a professional, courteous, and helpful demeanor. - May supervise a small crew of seasonal employees as needed.- Assist the cleaning crew leader in preparing daily occupancy reports and cleaning lists using Aspira One software. - Operate assigned NYS vehicles and equipment in a safe manner while maintaining compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and laws. - Assist with Rental Office tasks such as answering phone calls, cash handling, registering campers using online applications, providing information on Park accommodations/amenities, or providing Toll Booth coverage. - Assist with basic grounds and landscaping tasks such as mowing, weeding, planting, pruning, maintaining trails using hand-held tools, and monitoring and cleaning the Refuse and Recycle Center.- Assist with basic maintenance tasks such as unclogging plumbing fixtures, working on painting projects, replacing lightbulbs, and performing fire extinguisher checks. - Assist with crowd and traffic control during busy periods or special events, and ensure rules are observed for public safety.- Collect and properly dispose of trash and recycling throughout park grounds.
Minimum Qualifications There are no education or experience requirements. Applicants must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid driver's license appropriate for the @type of vehicle to be operated. Applicants must also be able to communicate effectively with other staff and with park patrons.
Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.- Must be available to work a variable schedule that includes weekends and evening shifts.- Must be able to perform light to medium manual labor, including lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods. - Must be able to frequently lifting 1-25 pounds and occasionally lifting 26-50 pounds.- Must be proficient in the use of computer technology including Microsoft Office applications.
