Position Overview
International Motors is seeking a highly skilled and motivated attorney to join its dynamic in-house legal counsel team.
As an integral part of the organization, the candidate will lead the Law Department's Corporate Operations Group, which includes the Intellectual Property Group, and provide expert legal advice and support across various departments, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional legal acumen, excellent negotiation skills, and a keen eye for detail. The individual will play a crucial role in safeguarding the company's interests along with contributing to its strategic goals.
Reporting to the International Motors' SVP, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, the successful candidate will have experience in multiple areas of law and provide comprehensive oversight and management on a wide variety of legal matters related to International Motors' business, with a focus on corporate governance, compliance, risk management, information governance, intellectual property, cybersecurity, privacy, real estate, and M&A.
Responsibilities
Handle various matters within the Corporate Operations team including corporate governance, compliance, and M&A.- Manage the Corporate Operations team responsible for corporate governance, compliance, risk management, information governance, intellectual property, cybersecurity, privacy, real estate, and M&A.- Stay updated on applicable federal, state, and local regulations and laws to ensure compliance; analyze their impact on the business and provide practical guidance.- Provide legal support and guidance on corporate and functional strategic initiatives and mergers & acquisitions.- Additional preferred experience in corporate finance, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, or bankruptcy.- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of documents and agreements related to these areas of laws.- Manage certain litigation and/or pre-litigation matters directly or with the assistance of outside legal counsel.- Provide legal advice, support, and services on a broad range of topics and issues.- Provide training to company personnel on substantive legal topics.- Help with the creation and implementation of legal and corporate policies and protocols.- Manage the Corporate Operations team.- Oversee a legal team of at least five attorneys, three paralegals, and additional support staff.
Minimum Requirements
Juris Doctor Degree (JD) and at least 11 years of experience as an attorney
At least 6 years of management experience

Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.- Licensed to practice law in Illinois.- A combination of top-tier law firm experience in corporate transactional law, with 6+ years of team management experience.- Strong analytical ability together with reliably sound business judgment and a balanced approach to risk mitigation.- Demonstrated expertise in strategic thinking and adept at managing both internal and external stakeholders.- Ability to operate as versatile utility player with a proven history of leadership, and a "doer mentality of both managing a team and managing own work stream.- Strong communication skills, as well as research and public speaking abilities- Demonstrated commitment to compliance, integrity, and quality.- Ability to prioritize conflicting demands from multiple business clients.- Ability to collaborate, build relationships, gain credibility, and partner effectively with others throughout the organization, including executive management.- Skilled in resolving disputes and managing risks effectively- Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues worldwide from diverse cultures
