Senior Electrical Engineer

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support complex industrial EPC projects across the U.S. While this role is anchored in our Greenville, SC office, we are recruiting nationwide talent and will consider placement or long-term project support aligned with our additional office locations in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, based on business and project needs.
This position performs complete design and engineering of complex electrical systems and provides technical leadership within multidisciplinary project teams.
What You'll Do
Perform complete electrical design for complex industrial engineering projects
Apply advanced engineering techniques, analysis, and judgment under general supervision
Serve as discipline lead on small to mid-sized projects
Develop single-line diagrams, motor control center layouts, electrical room layouts, cable schedules, grounding, lighting, power, plans
Produce design calculations, sketches, specifications, material take-offs, and cost estimates
Develop electrical installation and construction specifications
Review and check calculations, drawings, and vendor documentation for accuracy and code compliance
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, designers, and project leadership
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
Support procurement efforts through equipment specifications and bid packages
Perform fieldwork and construction support, including tie-ins, startup assistance, and commissioning activities
Ensure designs meet scope, schedule, budget, quality, and constructability requirements
Support interoffice execution and virtual team collaboration across regions
What We're Looking For
Education & Credentials
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
Professional Engineer (PE) license highly preferred
Experience
6+ years of progressive experience in industrial electrical engineering
Prior experience supporting EPC projects in chemical, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments
Technical Knowledge & Skills
Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
Ability to perform:
Load flow, voltage drop, short circuit, and overcurrent protection calculations
Lighting level calculations and power distribution design
Experience with:
Low and medium voltage systems (including 15kV power systems)
Cable tray and conduit routing, fill calculations, and construction materials
Ability to develop:
Electrical installation specifications
Control narratives, P&IDs (measurement and control), and data sheets
Equipment specifications for MCCs, motors, transformers, analyzers, control systems, and valves
Familiarity with ISA standards
Knowledge of PLC, HMI, and/or DCS systems preferred
Ability to act as Engineer of Record where PE certification is required
Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
