Position Summary:

The Director of Business and Operations serves as the district's senior operational leader and functions in alignment with the role of an Ohio School Business Manager. This position provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of key operational services---specifically transportation, facilities, and maintenance---to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant school operations. The Director works in close partnership with the District Treasurer, Superintendent, and district leadership team to support sound business practices, operational planning, and continuous improvement in support of student learning. This role does not replace the Treasurer, but complements the Treasurer's fiscal responsibilities through strong operational management and collaboration.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, facilities management, or a related field and related experience.

Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in school business operations, facilities, transportation, or a related operational leadership role.

Demonstrated knowledge of Ohio school operations, business practices, and regulatory requirements.

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage complex operational systems and multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in business administration, educational administration, or a related field.

Ohio School Business Manager (OSBM) certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Experience working collaboratively with a school district treasurer.

Terms of Employment: Salary, benefits, and work year to be established by the Lima City Schools Board of Education in accordance with applicable contracts and policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategic Planning (OSBM Domain: Leadership & Governance)

Serve as a senior operational leader, providing strategic direction for business and operational services for the District.

Collaborate with the Superintendent, District Treasurer, and leadership team to support district goals, Board priorities, and continuous improvement efforts.

Contribute to long-range operational planning aligned with the district's strategic plan and facilities master plan.

Model ethical leadership, professionalism, and sound decision-making consistent with Ohio Department of Education and OSBM standards.

Financial and Resource Management (OSBM Domain: Resource Management)

Work in close partnership with the District Treasurer to support sound fiscal practices related to operational departments.

Provide operational data, cost analyses, and projections to inform budget development, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.

Ensure transportation, facilities, and maintenance operations function within approved budgets.

Support purchasing, bidding, and contract management in accordance with Ohio Revised Code and Board policy.
