Associate Scientist - Solid State Characterization
Shift: Full-Time; Monday - Friday; 8am-5pm EST
ONSITE:
This is a fully onsite role based at our customer's site in (Boston, MA). We welcome applicants from all locations within the US. Please note that relocation assistance is not provided for this position, and any relocation costs will be the responsibility of the candidate.?

Our Laboratories Functional Service Partnership (FSP) team plays a direct role in advancing drug development by creating sustained groups of talent within our customers' organizations to provide long-term support. Through this collaborative approach, our professionals bring their commitment to excellence, industry knowledge, and operational strength directly into customer environments, helping to enhance capabilities and advance the delivery of life-changing therapies.
Key responsibilities:
Support solid state characterization and method development, validation and execution for pharmaceutical materials across the discovery and development pipeline.
Use state-of-the-art technologies to support early and late stage pharmaceutical development with a variety of techniques including X-ray powder diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, dynamic light scattering, surface area measurement and SEM among others while onsite at a pharmaceutical client site.
Generate physicochemical characterization data to support chemical and pharmaceutical process development as well as release and stability of drug substance and drug product.
Generate physical form and physical characterization data for release and stability under GMP
Manage sample receipt and document results according to the customer's procedures
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Immunology, Biology, Molecular Biology or similar
Assoc Scientist: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 0-2 years')
In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience with analytical instrumentation used in the pharmaceutical industry (1+ year) - specifically for solid state characterization such as XRPD, ssNMR, IR, Raman, SEM, DSC, TGA, surface area by BET and particle size by laser diffraction
Solid understanding and knowledge of general chemistry and solid state or physical chemistry
Ability to understand and independently apply GMPs and /or GLPs to everyday work with regard to documentation and instrument use
Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel and Word to perform tasks
Ability to independently optimize analytical methods
Good written and oral communication skills
Time management and project management skills
Problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
Ability to work in a collaborative work environment with a team

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $28.00-$32.00.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
