The Head Wrestling Coach provides leadership and mentorship to student-athletes, fostering their athletic, academic, and personal growth. This position upholds the integrity of the Athletics program by promoting Benedictine Values, building strong relationships across campus and the community, and supporting campus initiatives. In collaboration with the Athletic Director and college administrators, the coach develops a competitive and values-driven team culture while ensuring compliance with relevant athletic conference and division regulations. Additionally, the coach leads program development efforts, including recruitment, fundraising, and alumni engagement, to enhance the long-term success of the wrestling program.

The posted wage represents CSB and SJU's good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon several factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills, and may fall outside of the range indicated.
Responsibilities
Head Wrestling Coach (70%)
Coaching and Training
Design and organize high quality practice sessions, attending all practices
Provide instruction on skills and techniques to enhance player development
Analyze meet performance and develop improvement plans
Prepare for competition with the goal of finishing at the highest level both regionally and nationally
Student-Athlete Development
Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring they meet academic eligibility requirements
Provide guidance and support in personal, academic, and athletic development
Promote a positive team environment that fosters camaraderie and respect
Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive co-curricular experience for our student athletes
Program Administration
Ensure compliance with all NCAA and institutional rules and regulations
Schedule contests and training, managing all travel details
Manage the wrestling program's budget and resources
Hire, supervise and mentor assistant and student coaches
Provide direction to staff in maintaining accurate records and performance data for the team.
Oversee care and maintenance of all equipment
Represent the wrestling program in community outreach and fundraising activities
Engage with alumni and supporters to promote and enhance the program
Recruitment
Identify and recruit prospective student-athletes in collaboration with admissions staff
Conduct evaluations of potential recruits
Build relationships with high school coaches and other relevant stakeholders
Maintain an active recruiting database and track prospective student-athletes
Event Supervisor (20%)
Foster a welcoming and inclusive co-curricular experience for our student athletes that reflects positively on SJU.
Provide guidance and support to student athletes and employees.
Supervise designated home game-day venues, overseeing setup and breakdown of infrastructure such as bleachers, fencing, P.A. systems, scoreboards.
Train and manage game-day security staff, ushers, field security, etc.
Coordinate with visiting teams and officials prior to their arrival on campus and personally assist them upon arrival, escorting them to locker rooms, fields, courts, etc.
Collaborate with the Sports Marketing Director to execute in-game promotions.
Monitor the condition of facilities and maintain regular communication with Athletic Facility Coordinator, custodial, physical plant, and life safety departments regarding repairs, maintenance or any other facility-related concerns.
Department and Campus Engagement (10%)
Actively contribute to a collaborative and positive culture within the athletics department.
Support fellow coaches and staff by attending events, mentoring colleagues, and sharing best practices.
Participate in department meetings, committees, and initiatives that enhance the overall student-athlete experience.
Support admissions and alumni relations efforts, serving as an ambassador for the athletics program.
Assist with game-day operations, special events, and fan engagement
Collaborate with the Sports Marketing Director to execute in-game promotions
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education or related field; master's degree preferred
Three or more years of wrestling coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, or club level
Proven track record in recruiting and developing student-athletes
Effective coaching and supervisory skills
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities
Strong knowledge of wrestling strategies and techniques
Ability to positively represent the wrestling program to internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of student-athletes, faculty, staff, and community members
Commitment to student-athlete development, academic success, and program integrity
Ability to work a flexible and varied schedule, including nights and weekends as necessary
Ability to project a positive image of service
Understanding, or ability to learn NCAA Division III mission and rules
Hold CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications per NCAA rules, or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire
Valid driver's license and ability to meet the college's vehicle use requirements, including completion of a defensive driving course within one month of hire.
Physical requirements:
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including leading players through training sessions, demonstrating techniques and skills
The role requires mobility across campus facilities and competition venues
Must be capable of lifting and transporting items weighing up to 50 lbs
Ability to adapt to varying temperatures
Proficient in safely and efficiently operating college vehicles, and ability to complete College safety training programs, including defensive driving, within one month of hire; valid driver's license required
Travel requirements:
Regular travel for meets, recruiting, and other program-related activities

HEALTH INSURANCE
Employees are eligible for coverage in the health insurance plan on the first of the month following date of hire. If you elect medical coverage for yourself, you may also choose to cover your eligible dependents. The employee and CSB/SJU share in the cost of this benefit.
DENTAL INSURANCE
Employees are eligible for coverage in the dental insurance plan on the first of the month following date of hire. If you elect dental coverage for yourself, you may also choose to cover your eligible dependents. The employee and CSB/SJU share in the cost of this benefit.
LIFE INSURANCE
CSB/SJU provides a Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) policy to employees. This insurance is effective on the first of the month following date of hire. The amount of term insurance provided is based on your annual salary.
You may also purchase additional life insurance in increments of one, two, three, or four times your annual salary. There is also a dependent life insurance package available.
LONG-TERM DISABILITY
After one year of benefit eligible employment, CSB/SJU provides disability coverage in the event of an illness or injury that prevents you from working.
VACATION
Paid vacation is accrued based upon FTE and the number of years employed. Vacation is cumulative from year to year to a maximum of 240 hours.

These plans allow employees to set aside part of their salary on a pre-tax basis to pay for IRS approved expenses.
VISION PLAN
This voluntary plan offers affordable vision coverage for routine eye exams, eyeglass lenses and frames, and contact lenses. Discounts on hearing exams and hearing aids are also included.
TUITION REMISSION
Tuition remission is an educational benefit provided by CSB/SJU. A full-time employee and spouse (if applicable) are eligible for tuition free educational benefits the first full semester after six months of employment. Full time employees may enroll for one undergraduate course per term, which includes summer: up to a maximum of 2 courses per year.
There is also a tuition remission program for dependent children of full-time employees. This program provides a financial resource to a son or daughter for meeting the tuition costs of undergraduate education. Eligibility begins the fall or spring semester following 2 years (24 months) of continuous full-time employment. There are also two consortia programs in which CSB/SJU participate where employees' children may apply for scholarships to attend other colleges/universities.
Tuition assistance is also available at Saint John's Preparatory School for the dependents of full-time employees.
PARENTAL LEAVE
A paid leave (up to 15 days) will be granted to eligible employees upon the birth or adoption of a child, pro-rated based on FTE. New employees are eligible for this benefit after twelve months of employment.
SICK LEAVE
Full-time employees earn up to 9 days of sick leave per year, pro-rated based on FTE.
Sick leave is cumulative from year to year up to a maximum of 720 hours (90 days). Employees may also use accumulated personal sick leave to care for ill family members.
EMPLOYEEASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free counseling resource available to
all employees and immediate family members.
RETIREMENT
Defined Contribution Plan
CSB/SJU provides a retirement program for all qualified full-time employees. The program is administered by Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA).
Enrollment in the retirement plan will be effective the first day of the month following the date of hire unless the employee elects to opt-out.
