Position Summary: The Traffic Data Collection Field Technician is responsible for data collection and will be responsible for setting up count equipment in the field. Types of data collection include turning movement counts, portable counts, pedestrian and bicycle counts and various traffic studies. The technician will be required to work both inside of the office and in the field depending on the tasks being performed. Field operations may require working in a wide range of weather and roadway conditions.

Compensation for this opportunity is $54,00.00 - $62,4000.00/year commensurate with experience, education, and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Work with other field staff

Download count data

Counting vehicles at intersections (manually or via video)

Placing tubes in road to count traffic

Deploying cameras at intersections

Taking digital photographs and noting other field data information

Conducting various other studies such as vehicle occupancy and origin destination studies

Required Skills

Must be able to work safely and efficiently

Must have basic computer skills

Ability to work within timeframes and deadlines, and follow strict procedure and safety guidelines

Willing to be outdoors for extended periods of time

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills?

Team oriented with strong capability to work independently

Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Ability to pass required SHA-field training/certifications

Required Experience

High School Diploma

Competent in Microsoft Office

Working Conditions

This is a predominantly a field-based position. Travel will be needed between traffic count sites based on client and project needs and could include out of state travel. Field work is required and would be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid. and dry/arid conditions. Weekend work may be needed. Lifting (of greater than 25 lbs.) will be required as needed.
