Senior Accountant and Project Specialist is a newly created hybrid role reporting to the Controller. The position combines traditional accounting responsibilities with project based initiatives that support organizational growth, operational efficiency, and strategic decision making. Approximately fifty percent of the role will focus on monthly close and accounting activities, while the remaining fifty percent will be dedicated to financial analysis, process improvements, and ad hoc projects.

The role will prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses. Responsibilities include managing daily operating transactions, assisting with intercompany activity, and supporting monthly close and GAAP financial reporting. The position will support internal and external audit requirements and work directly with auditors. Additional duties include processing and managing divisional loan requests, coordinating property tax filings, preparing and reviewing 1099s, supporting payroll related accounting, assisting with professional liability related accounting, completing required government surveys, managing escheatment and use tax compliance, and performing internal audit and controls related functions.

From a project and analysis perspective, the role will lead or support financial process improvement initiatives, perform deep dive financial analysis for divisions and special projects, assist with budget preparation and development, collaborate with FP and A and operational leaders, and support financial operations for new or evolving business lines. The role will also contribute to initiatives related to organizational growth, new service offerings, and acquisitions.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field and at least four years of experience in accounting, audit, or finance at a senior accountant or senior analyst level. Experience working in a regulated environment with audit exposure is required. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting, advanced Excel skills, strong systems aptitude, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Experience in healthcare, public accounting, or cross functional operational exposure is a plus. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is preferred.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

4+ years of experience in accounting, audit, or finance

Senior Accountant or Senior Analyst-level experience preferred

Experience working in a regulated environment with exposure to audits

Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement reporting

Advanced Excel skills

Strong systems aptitude; comfort working with accounting and reporting tools

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
