Position Summary
This position will be responsible for leading Kraus-Anderson's shared services marketing organization, supporting KA Construction, KA Insurance, KA Realty, and KA Corporate. This role builds and develops a high-performing marketing team while establishing the operational infrastructure and processes for an effective shared services model. The position balances strategic planning with hands-on team leadership.
The Managing Director partners with the KACC Director of Strategy and Growth, KA Company BD leaders, Company leaders, and the VP of Marketing & Business Development to align marketing efforts with each company's business priorities. Each KA company operates independently with unique audiences and strategies the shared services model provides marketing resources and expertise to support these distinct needs while creating efficiency and consistency where appropriate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Shared Services Development
Build and operationalize KA's shared services marketing organization, establishing workflows and processes that enable the team to effectively support four independent business entities.
Develop company-specific marketing strategies in partnership with each company's leadership to align with their unique growth objectives and target audiences.
Lead marketing strategic planning and quarterly goal-setting for all companies with the company's business development and executive leadership. Plans need to sync up at the KA Company level and support opportunities for cross-selling.
Champion the evaluation, implementation, and optimization of marketing technologies to enhance team productivity, enable data-driven decision-making, and create competitive advantages through innovation. Identify and evaluate marketing technology opportunities in collaboration with IT.
Brand Strategy & Management
Serve as the strategic lead for a large and strategic company-wide brand refresh initiative, harmonizing the master brand with sub-brands.
Develop and maintain brand standards that ensure brand integrity while enabling company-specific customization.
Marketing Strategy & Execution
Develop and oversee marketing strategies tailored to each company's needs, specialties, locations, and investments--supporting their distinct client journeys and business development approaches.
Identify effective ways to utilize the industry-specific, service-specific, and location-specific subject matter expertise of Proposal Coordinators to inform marketing projects
Oversee digital marketing efforts including websites, social media, email marketing, and SEO.
Guide content development and thought leadership initiatives that position KA companies and leaders as industry experts.
Direct integrated marketing campaigns ensuring alignment with company objectives and brand standards.
Direct external PR strategies across companies. Plan proactive outreach to support various KA locations and investment strategies, apply for awards, plan for possible crisises, and support project/people recurring news.
Work with the Shared Services Internal Communications leader to identify opportunities to reach employees more directly and efficiently. Provide input on company communications.
Business Development Collaboration
Partner with the KACC Director of Strategy and Growth and Company business development teams to align marketing with business development activities. Identify ways to proactively cross-sell through common marketing venues and client interests.
Provide strategic oversight to the proposal team for priority opportunities.
Support and mentor Marketing Managers who coordinate with business development counterparts across companies.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead the marketing team, including the Marketing Leadership team.
Provide coaching and professional development that builds team capabilities and strengthens performance.
Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture that values innovation and excellence.
Responsible for the growth and development of direct reports. Providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance.
Ability to lead and work with others cooperatively; recognize and reward people for their achivments; and provides constructive and timely coaching, performance assessment and feedback.
Agency & Vendor Management
Identify, evaluate, and engage strategic agency partners including agencies and specialized service providers.
Manage agency relationships to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, brand standards, and budget parameters.
Performance Management & Budgeting
Track and report on marketing performance, providing insights and recommendations to leadership.
Collaborate with the VP of Marketing & Business Development and company leaders to develop and manage annual marketing budgets.
Exercise budget authority within approved frameworks, making strategic resource allocation decisions.
Performs others duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field; MBA or Master's degree preferred.
15+ years of progressive marketing experience with demonstrated leadership success; experience in construction, engineering, real estate, insurance, or professional services strongly preferred.
10+ years of people leadership experience building and developing marketing teams.
Proven experience with brand strategy, content strategy, digital marketing, and marketing technology tools.
Proven track record in B2B or proposal-driven environments.
Strong strategic thinking and planning capabilities.
Collaborative leadership style with positive, solutions-oriented mindset.
Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Office 365 - Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals
Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Ability to possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others

Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.

Salary Range: $170,000 to $200,000 annually, plus discretionary incentive program.
While the range listed represents the anticipated hiring range for this position, offers at the upper end of the range are uncommon. Pay is based on many factors including but not limited to education, skill, experience, training, certifications, and other business needs.
