Summary This position supports the functions of Engineering Services located at the Cincinnati, OH VA Medical Center Responsibilities The Cincinnati VA Medical Center (CVAMC) is a two-division campus located in Cincinnati, OH and Fort Thomas, KY serving 15 counties in Southwest OH, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana with 6 Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in Bellevue, KY; Florence, KY; Lawrenceburg, IN; Hamilton, OH; Clermont County, OH, and Georgetown, OH. The CVAMC also supports two off main campus locations in the Cincinnati area via an Eye Center and Mental Health Outreach Community Division. Major Duties: Performs clerical, assistant, or technician level work in support of a budget analysis and/or administration function. Processes budgetary transactions for a wide variety of appropriated fund and reimbursable travel and travel and transportation accounts. Resolves problems in processing nonstandard transactions, suggestion alternative ways of obtaining/using available funds. Performs duties in support of agency financial systems such as entry of financial data and timekeeping data into automated systems or processing of petty cash transactions. Assists with the resolution of various financial and timekeeping problems such as delinquent travel vouchers and outstanding advances. Examines vouchers, invoices, claims and other requests or payment for goods and services provided to or by the Government or for reimbursement of expenditures for travel and transportation, for accuracy, adequacy of documentation or citations, compliance with regulations, and justification. Performs general clerical or assistant support of a fiscal nature, such as liaison with vendors regarding the status of payments, initiating internal fiscal controls for processing of receiving and disbursing documents, or inputting and maintaining financial data into an automated financial system. Verifies cost data and availability of funds. Creates and researches accounting records. Reviews documents authorizing payments of benefits. Determines the proper amount due and processes the necessary payment transactions. Responds to written or oral inquiries concerning payments or audit-related information. Examines, verifies, and maintains financial accounts and accounting data and classifies accounting transactions including the verification of the accuracy and completeness of the accounting data. Summarizes transactions and prepares control documents or other posting documents reflecting the entries to be made. Responsible for varying @types of accounts and payments such as advanced or deferred payments. Performs clerical and assistant level work in support of the Transportation Section. Reviews trip tickets submitted to the Transportation Section by customers throughout the Health Care System and reserves vehicles as appropriate. Answers calls to Transportation Section and responds to questions, takes appropriate actions, directs calls to proper staff, and takes messages as appropriate. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/16/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Accounting, budget and administrative functional areas and their relationships to other functions to research or investigate problems or errors that require reconciling and reconstructing incomplete information. Knowledge of automated accounting and budget systems to reconcile errors that require understanding of nonstandard procedures or to provide assistance in the development of automated procedures for clerical operations. Knowledge of extensive and diverse accounting, budget or other financial regulations, operations, and procedures governing a wide variety of transactions, complaints, or discrepancies. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
