Job Description
Through their research, teaching, and service, the ideal candidate will demonstrate St. Cloud State's commitment to our mission and values, especially our responsibility for the holistic education of our diverse student population. Applicants will be expected to establish and maintain professional goals to be outstanding teachers through the use of research-based, best- practices, and innovative pedagogy. They will regularly engage in ongoing professional development and innovation opportunities focused on pedagogical and professional growth.
Tenure track position in the Elementary Education program with expectations to: Provide university course instruction that models effective instruction in Elementary Education in the areas of pedagogy, culturally and linguistically responsive instruction, literacy, and/or social studies methods.
Provide academic advising, student support, student advocacy, mentorship, and recruitment.
Participate in departmental and program operation, addressing departmental and program enhancement, state and national accreditation and program assessment and review.
Teach and work effectively with persons from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, including an asset approach to multilingualism.
Engage in scholarly activity
Salary Range: $64,963.00 - $188,620.00/annually
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in C & I, Elementary Education, Literacy Education or related field. (ABD considered with degree to be completed before appointment date.)
Holds or has recently held a K-6 elementary education license.
Minimum of three years' experience as a licensed, full-time classroom teacher of record in a K-6, U.S. public, elementary school.
Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize technology in instruction.
Demonstrated ability to teach and work collaboratively and effectively with persons from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualification
A record of teaching excellence at the university level in the field of Elementary Education: literacy, curriculum, pedagogy, culturally and linguistically sustaining instruction, and/or social studies methods.
Reading Specialist Certificate/Endorsement
Minimum of five years' experience as a licensed, full-time classroom teacher of record in a K-6, U.S. public, elementary school.
Background or degree and successful experience in multi-lingual education.
Background, degree, expertise, and successful experience in literacy education.
Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize technology in instruction for both university candidates and elementary classrooms including online or hybrid teaching.
Demonstrated scholarly activity, such as research studies, professional articles and/or professional presentations.
Demonstrated effective experience with course design, instruction and assessment aligned with Interstate Teacher Support and Assessment Consortium (InTASC) and the Minnesota Unit Standards, Standards of Effective Practice, and/or Content Standards.
Experience with academic advising, student support, mentorship, or recruitment.
