We are looking for an Additive Manufacturing Engineer to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location.
Your Responsibilities:
As an Additive Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to foster the growth and development of additive manufacturing within EMD by evolving the processing, designing, qualification of AM components, and lead communications with project teams and respective customers.
You will work with project teams to understand needs and drive the execution of material qualifications and designs, as well as look for new advanced ways to improve and evolve additive manufacturing processes that directly impact current and new products. You will mentor and aid in the development of less experienced engineers and more.
Salary: $99,000.00 - $165,000.00 ? per year

Your Challenge:
Work with project teams (i.e., engineering and operations) to identify and implement additive manufacturing solutions to complex problems.
Plan, coordinate, and execute complex design solutions that include documentation, reporting, publishing, and making technical or other presentations to ensure visibility of solutions in an evolving environment.
Review qualifications of applicable governing technical specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine metallurgical and materials requirements. Recommend new ways to meet stringent requirements by interfacing with external subject matter experts.
Lead advanced technical engineering programs (material/product/process development/qualifications) and drive the execution of additive manufacturing at EMD.
Initiate purchase requisitions for tools, fixtures, operational equipment, and outside services.
Manage acquisition of necessary capital, maintenance contracts, consumables, and software to support growth strategies.
Assess part characteristics for manufacturability, material selection, equipment selection, and design optimization.
Develop best practices for design and manufacturability by establishing design guidelines to ensure lessons learned and best practices are documented.
Maintain an intimate working knowledge of additive manufacturing equipment and their respective technical advancements that pertains to the usage for EMD applications.
Utilize skills and experience in additive manufacturing to provide guidance to project teams and their respective customers on part design and selection, develop robust manufacturing plans and build files.
Perform work in accordance with departmental procedures and instructions, CW policies, and safety, environmental, and security rules and guidelines.
What You Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
A minimum of 15 years work experience in engineering support of heavy component manufacturing including joining and machining operations.
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities with excellent communication.
Relationships with external subject matter experts within the industry and customer base to support additive manufacturing implementation.
Ability to lead a team of engineers towards the additive manufacturing strategic goals at EMD. Lead and execute the additive manufacturing vision at EMD.
Practical experience with various additive manufacturing processes parameters, material properties, qualification standards, and metallurgical analysis techniques.
Goal-oriented, results driven, problem-solving attitude.
Demonstrated project planning skills and understanding of cost and schedule implications.
Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens.
Must be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.
