Apply CFA Education directives and rules and departmental and facility policy and procedure to daily secretarial duties. Perform a variety of secretarial and clerical tasks at the advanced level. Responsible for assisting in the operations and management of the school office in its entirety as the management assistant, including: making independent decisions during the supervisor's absence, the operation and implementation of accounting records for the yearly budget; accumulate and compile materials and facts for required reports; attend meetings as requested by supervisor; direct supervision of preparing, processing, updating, maintaining and securing office files and correspondence; designation timekeeper for school area; as well as normal office duties. This position requires daily contact with prisoners.
Required Education and Experience
Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Four years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including one year equivalent to advanced 8-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary E8, or Legal Secretary E8.
OR
Four years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including two years equivalent to experienced E7-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary 7, or Legal Secretary 7.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.
This is a drug and alcohol test-designated position.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year's Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
