The Education Program Coordinator (Special Education Supervisor) in the Division of Youth Services Education Department provides expertise for the Arkansas Consolidated High School (ACHS) system. This position serves as the District Special Education Coordinator and works to keep our school district in compliance with the Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, as well as ensuring our special education students are receiving Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).
This position ensures that ACHS and the contractors follow the current legislation for students with exceptionalities under Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
This position functions with minimal supervision and works to maintain records, review and counsel on all special education paperwork, timeline, and communicate with the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education. This position ensures that our students also transfer from ACHS to their public school with current and appropriate paperwork.
Provides strong leadership in the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the special education program. Establishes clear lines of communication between DYS and contractors, school districts, facilities, parents, state department, and community regarding special education. Organizes and provides appropriate special education staff development.
Develops, monitors, and manages all special education funding sources. Assumes all overall management responsibility for program design, compliance standards including instructional programs designed to maximize student performance. Manages all litigation which includes due process, mediation and resolution meetings required in federal law.
Collaborate with the superintendent and HR department to ensure all staffing needs are met and maintained. Prepare reports deemed necessary for the Superintendent and Director of DYS. Monitors the implementation of Individual Education Plans at the residential institutions. Keep the superintendent informed of trends and changes.
Specific Job Duties:
Attend and assist in planning Professional Development for the collaborative PD with DYS and contractors.
Monitor, evaluate, and report regarding contractor compliance with contract guidelines.
Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding licensure.
Knowledge of educational/training program development and presentation techniques.
Knowledge of teaching principles and methods.
Ability to research, develop, evaluate, and review educational training programs.
Ability to prepare reports and maintain records.
Ability to review and analyze applications and supporting documentation.
Ability to present ideas and information to large and diverse groups.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in special education, Educational Leadership, Administration, Curriculum and Development, or other related field.

Job Summary
The Education Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of educational programs within the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). This role involves supporting the program's daily operations, coordinating activities, and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. The coordinator works closely with educators, administrators, and a variety of assorted personnel in an attempt to support the achievement of educational goals and enhance the quality of education.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs, policies, and procedures. Coordinate the daily operations of educational programs, including scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, organizational policies, and state and federal regulations. Monitor and evaluate program quality and effectiveness, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program activities and student progress. Organize and coordinate professional development opportunities for educators. Cultivate a learning environment that supports student engagement and success. Collaborate with academic leaders and external partners to support program goals and initiatives. Conduct research and analysis to identify trends, best practices, and areas for improvement in educational programs. Advocate for policies and initiatives that support the growth and development of educational programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in educational administration or a related field.
Knowledge of educational principles, practices, and program development.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience in managing budgets and resources.
Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of assorted personnel, including educators, administrators, and community partners.
Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to education.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in educational administration.
