SRB: The State Reclamation and Mosquito Control Board oversees mosquito control in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts including 11 regional programs. It establishes administrative and technical policies, guidelines, and best management practices to ensure mosquito control programs are safe and effective. Job Description: Seasonal Field Technicians will be assigned by the Director of Operations and/or Executive Director to other CMMCP staff as needed. Duties include but may not limited to the following: Applicant must be at least 18 years of age. To demonstrate punctuality, dependability and compliance with work schedules. To drive a truck carefully in the manner used in mosquito control work and to follow all established traffic laws, regulations and common sense safety practices. To apply larval control products in area catch basins as directed for the control of mosquitoes and the reduction in mosquito-borne diseases. Take catch basin treatment license test to treat basins with larvicide products. CMMCP will help you take the exam once hired. Treat Catch Basins with larval control products. To operate in the CMMCP source reduction program (tire recycling) as directed. To operate in the CMMCP ditch maintenance program as directed. To operate in the CMMCP mosquito surveillance program as directed. Any and all tasks subject to the needs of the Project as determined by the Director of Operations or the Executive Director.? Employment will run from early June through August, possibly into September or beyond. Good work attendance and adherence to work instructions is required. Must be able to communicate effectively in English in written and spoken form. Experience with computers including Microsoft Word and Excel. Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License with a clean driving record.?You must provide a copy of your driving record before an interview will be scheduled. Seasonal Field Technicians at CMMCP are contracted, seasonal positions whose daily hours or length of service may be modified at the discretion of the Executive Director but are not to exceed 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week except under certain circumstances as determined by the Executive Director. ? PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a license to apply pesticides in the Commonwealth is preferred but not required. Ability to acquire a pesticide license within a specified time period to be determined by the Executive Director is required for employment. Previous related experience is a plus. Each qualified candidate will be initially hired into a probation period. The candidate may be required upon hire to study for and pass the Massachusetts Pesticide License exam. We reserves the right to terminate the employment of any candidate if he/she fails the Pesticide License exam. A cover letter and resume must be submitted as part of the application process and attached "as relevant" to the requisition. Salary: $20.00- 22.00/hour. Applicant must be willing to submit to a drug and/or alcohol test at any time during employment.??Ability to read and understand maps and their layout is required.
