About the Role
The Consumer Finance team is seeking a Manager, Finance to support the growth and performance of Dow Jones' subscription businesses, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, MarketWatch, and Investor's Business Daily (IBD).
This role will partner closely with leaders across Marketing, Product, Data Science, and Circulation to plan, forecast, and optimize subscriber revenue. You will help drive financial insights across the full subscriber lifecycle-from acquisition and promotional strategy to retention, pricing, and lifetime value-ensuring the business achieves its growth and profitability objectives.
You will develop forward-looking models, evaluate investment decisions, and provide actionable insights that inform strategic priorities. You will be based in the New York or New Jersey office and report to the VP Finance.
You Will:
Partner with Consumer, Marketing, and Product teams to develop and manage budgets and forecasts for digital and print subscription revenue across Dow Jones brands.
Build and maintain subscriber-based financial models, including drivers such as acquisition volume, promotional offers, pricing step-ups, churn/retention, and lifetime value (LTV).
Collaborate with Growth and Paid Media teams to evaluate customer acquisition efficiency (CAC, Cost Per Order, payback, ROI) and optimize marketing investment.
Analyze the financial impact of pricing changes, promotional strategies, bundling, and new product initiatives.
Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to assess risks and opportunities related to subscriber growth, retention, and ARPU.
Produce monthly performance reporting, including variance analysis and trend insights across key subscription KPIs (net adds, churn, conversion, mix, yield).
Support month-end close processes with a focus on subscription revenue and related accruals.
Build business cases to support strategic initiatives such as product launches, offer testing, international expansion, or channel optimization. Partner with Data Science and Analytics teams to ensure alignment between financial forecasts and subscriber behavior trends.
Support ad-hoc analyses and strategic projects as needed
You Have:
6-7 years of experience in Commercial Finance, FP&A, or related roles, preferably supporting subscription, direct-to-consumer, media, SaaS, or recurring revenue businesses.
Strong understanding of subscription economics, including acquisition funnels, churn/retention, ARPU, and lifetime value.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field, or related experience (preferred).
Advanced Excel skills (complex modeling, scenario analysis) and proficiency with Google Sheets/Slides.
Experience with financial planning systems such as SAP and TM1 (preferred).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.
Experience building financial models to evaluate marketing investment, pricing, and product strategies.
Excellent communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated initiative, strong work ethic, and collaborative mindset.
