The Collins Aerospace Ejection Seating business is the leader in providing a safe and robust Ejection Seating System to domestic and foreign customers alike. Currently, we are in the process of modernizing fleets to the upgraded ACES 5 design, providing a safer ejection system to ensure those who are born to fly, live to walk away.
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join us as a lead design integration engineer to support all phases of ejection seat product development lifecycle including the bid, design, development, verification & validation, and initial production implementation. The preferred candidate will have experience with hardware development for military/DoD customers.
What You Will Do
Interface with customers/suppliers/internal stakeholders for an Ejection Seat Program
Successfully lead a team of engineers to execute on design/project tasks required to develop and qualify aircraft ejection seats by ensuring technical scope integrity and budget/schedule accuracy
Perform analysis to resolve ejection seat design challenges
Support through all phases of design including bid and proposal, conceptual design, preliminary design, detailed design, qualification testing, new product introduction, production implementation, and in-production support
Work as part of a cohesive team with test engineering, product engineering, system engineering, and program management
Support program by technical writing presentations and reports for customer approval
Support Program Management with any preparation of bids and proposals
Support Systems and Test Engineering on requirements analysis and verification
Be able to identify and manage technical risks & opportunities
Interact with Business Development to ensure customer satisfaction and advise on business strategies
Participate in Root Cause Analysis utilizing Raytheon Technologies Best Practices
Contribute to continual process improvement and functional excellence by supporting the development of new discipline approaches, techniques and tool usage
The position requires strong interpersonal skills, high degree of comfort with ambiguity, good project discipline, excellent oral and written communication skills, high computer/technology proficiency, and the ability to work as part of an integrated product team
Occasional travel may be required (~5-10%)
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
Strong analytical skills including strong knowledge of physics, dynamics, and statics
Strong background in mechanical design principles
Experience presenting design solutions to internal and external customers
3D CAD experience with high end CAD software (e.q. NX, Catia, Pro-E)
Qualifications We Prefer
Ability to Lead a team of Engineers in the execution of a developmental program
Previous experience with aircraft cockpit, crew station, escape system, ejection seat, or crew systems design
Previous experience using Unigraphics/NX CAD experience including Enovia PLM experience
Previous experience in the aerospace and defense industry
Previous experience with machining, sheet metal, composites, and fabric design
Previous experience with energetic cartridge actuated devices or propellant actuated devices
Previous experience of aerospace/military specifications
Proven use of Continuous Improvement principles and/or design optimization experience
Understanding of mechanical principles to solve classical structural analysis solutions both inside and outside of finite element tools

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
