DASA DE&C manages the Army's Security Assistance and Armaments Cooperation programs that engage allies and partners across the full spectrum of Army acquisition to achieve force dominance. We lead the U.S. Army Security Assistance Enterprise (ASAE), providing leadership, resource management and policy oversight. We build the capabilities of allies and partners, strengthen relationships with our foreign partners, and strengthen the U.S. industrial base.

Position Overview

As an Associate Protocol Specialist, you will serve as the primary on-site coordinator for all meetings and engagements hosted within the DASA DE&C and ASA(ALT) facilities. You are the hands-on expert responsible for ensuring that every detail-from conference room setup to the proper handling of distinguished visitors-is executed flawlessly and in accordance with military protocol. This role requires close collaboration with Action Officers (AOs) to translate their meeting objectives into logistical success. You will manage the official gift locker, coordinate all aspects of meeting support, and provide assistance to senior event planners, ensuring a professional and seamless experience for all attendees, including senior foreign military officials and DoW leadership.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Protocol and Executive Engagement Support (Primary)

Meeting & Protocol Management: Lead all logistical and protocol aspects for on-site meetings involving senior foreign military officials, DoD leaders, and industry executives. This includes reserving and preparing conference rooms, managing complex VTC/AV systems, and ensuring proper flag, seating, and etiquette requirements are met.

Action Officer & Visitor Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for directorate Action Officers, providing expert guidance on protocol and logistics. Manage all visitor access requests, and personally greet and escort distinguished visitors, ensuring a seamless and professional experience.

Official Gift Management: Maintain and manage the DASA DE&C official gift locker, including inventory control, sourcing, preparation, and meticulous record-keeping in accordance with Army policy and regulations.

CONUS Event Support: Provide direct administrative and logistical support to senior CONUS event planners as needed, assisting with material production, registration support, and on-site coordination for larger organizational events.

Operations and Administrative Management (Secondary)

Battle Rhythm & Task Management: Manage the directorate's operational battle rhythm and deconflict calendars to align with leadership priorities. Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of all directorate taskers using the Army Enterprise Task Management Software Solution (ETMS2), ensuring timely responses and providing status updates to leadership.

Knowledge & Personnel Integration: Serve as a governor for the directorate's knowledge management repositories (e.g., SharePoint). Lead the personnel integration process, autonomously managing the onboarding and offboarding workflows for accounts, equipment, and access for all new and departing personnel.

Required Experience:

Essential Requirements

Security Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active Secret security clearance.

Education & Experience: Applicants must meet one of the following combinations:

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of six (6) to eight (8) years of professional experience.

An Associate's degree and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional experience.

Crucial Requirement: At least four (4) years of this experience must include providing direct, primary operational or executive support to senior military (O-6) or civilian (GS-15 / SES) leaders in a DoD headquarters environment.

Skills:

Deep expertise in military protocol, customs, and courtesies, with proven experience planning events for distinguished international and U.S. senior leaders.

Expert-level, demonstrated proficiency with the Defense Travel System (DTS) for complex OCONUS travel and the Army Enterprise Task Management Software Solution (ETMS2).

Proven ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and anticipatory thinking, capable of independently identifying problems, developing solutions, and executing tasks with minimal guidance.

Exceptional professional poise and diplomatic skill, with the confidence to interact directly and professionally with General Officers, SES members, foreign dignitaries, and industry executives.

Mastery of executive correspondence protocols (per AR 25-50) and the Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience managing events within the Pentagon or other secure DoD facilities.

Experience using Pentagon-specific systems for visitor access.

Prior military service in a relevant administrative or protocol-related field.

Formal protocol training from a recognized institution (e.g., The Protocol School of Washington).

Prior military service in a relevant operations, protocol, or senior administrative field.

Work Environment

Location: This position is located in Arlington, VA.

Schedule: This is a full-time, on-site position required to provide direct, hands-on support to users. Remote work is not authorized.

Travel: Minimal travel is required, generally less than 5%.

Collaboration: This role requires constant collaboration with all DASA DE&C personnel and continuous liaison with external system program offices and help desks.
