The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is looking for a full-time temporary Veteran Community Based Services Coordinator for two years.

This position provides outreach support in Northern Minnesota representing the Veteran Community Based Services team. This role will be focusing on implementing a regional Veteran Suicide Prevention Plan utilizing a multi-sector, community-based approach. The coordinator will engage with key support systems to improve overall mental health, enhance suicide prevention efforts, and promote well-being with Service Members, Veterans, and their Families (SMVF).

The Minnesota Veterans home locations in Northern Minnesota are : Bemidji, Silver Bay and Fergus Falls . This position will be working primarily out of one of these three locations as agreed upon by the agency and incumbent.

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of experience in mental health, suicide prevention, community health work, or community outreach programming.

Ability to work with community, state, or federal organizations.

Knowledge of specific mental or behavioral health issues and resources such as substance use disorder, mental and behavioral disorders that negatively impacts physical health.

Presentation and public speaking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Veteran programs and services.

Experience working with either the Veteran and/or active-duty service member population.

Experience in public speaking and presenting at conferences or community events.

Experience supporting or managing program delivery to community partners.

This position requires successful completion of the following:
